Weren't greeted at the door. Stood waiting at reception for 5-10 minutes and then went to find someone to seat us. When I eventually found a young blonde girl at the bar, she tutted and chuckled at me for asking if we were waiting at the right place or could be seated soon. I was then told "I'll just put this order on the system first shall I" and continued to enter things on the till without even looking up/acknowledging I was there. Very rude. She still didn't seat us, another older gentleman took us in the end, and the room was lovely. Warm and cosy and great décor. Food was absolutely outstanding, cannot fault it at all. Had to ask twice for more tea as we were only checked on once in the 3 hours. Overall experience was a little disappointing, but that was only due to the service on the day. The food was outstanding and couldn't be faulted on the normal and the vegetarian afternoon tea platter we had. Would return again without a doubt, but just hope for a better waiting team on the day.

Really disappointed with our overall experience at Burley Manor :( The venue was lovely and well presented for Xmas however the service was where everything went down hill. Whilst the staff were pleasant they clearly require more training and support in order to provide the type of experience being offered and expected. We were seated quickly and offered a choice of table water which was lovely however it would have been nice to have been offered the tea menu at this point rather than have to ask for it. When we did ask we were given a slip of paper with the names of the teas listed, there was no explaination or ingredients and when we asked what 'honeybush' tea was 2 staff said they didnt know and but they could google? This has never been my experience at any venue previously and came as quite a suprise! When the afternoon tea arrived we had requested in the booking 1 person no fish and 1 no chocolate however although they removed a fish sandwich and reduced one of the chocolate items to 2 they had not thought to replace with alternatives and so we had to raise this with a team member, who did resolve. The English breakfast tea provided appeared in a large pot which was great until we realised it was only 1 tbag which made it very weak and also it had a scum on it when poured which may have meant it was stewed or the pot was not clean? The food was generally good quality although the lack of jam and cream provided meant we needed to ask for more. We were never asked if we would like more tea or if we required anything else which again other tea venues generally offer? So value wise I do not think £28 per person for what we recieved was good or worth it. If all the issues here were addressed then it definitely would be as food was good overall.

Excellent food, but absolutely rubbish service, it’s usually my favourite place for Afternoon, complaint on service, nobody apologised & didn’t seem to care, took 2 friends as a Christmas treat, so service totally spoilt it.

After so many lovely visits to Burley Manor in previous years, we did unfortunately have a poor experience at our afternoon tea visit this October. Very slow service, lack of knowledge of what was on the menu (and no menu to view), unresponsive staff. This no longer felt like a special treat but one full of frustration. We tried to feed back to the staff in a polite way, but had no apology or acknowledgement. We stayed the course, unlike some other guests, but won’t revisit.

A beautiful setting with deer close by. We were left too long and needed more tea and coffee towards the end. Staff very good apart from being left unattended and no service while we were eating.

Beautiful room, calm and relaxed environment. Staff friendly and accommodating. Didn't have decaf Earl Grey, which would have been good. Good selection of food. Delicious scones and brownies and nice to have a savoury selection as well. Expensive but worth it as a special treat.

Service was very slow, waited 30 minutes for the tea to be served after being asked as soon as we were seated. There was no table check to see if everything was okay for us. The food was of a good quality but the variety was limited.
