Paying homage to Oakland history-about 100 years ago there was a lounge and club called the VARSITY LOUNGE located in our same location, who knew! In digging up old Oakland memorabilia, we found an old menu. To our surprise-they were well known for two things the Varsity Martini and Conga Lines!! While we aren’t ready for a conga, we are ready for the Varsity Martini and other drink specials. Come join us every day in our downstairs café, and our upstairs bar Monday through Saturday.

Excellent all around. Savory chanterelles with pasta dish went well with other starters. Drinks well described and delicious. Appreciate the flow of conversation enabled by the sound panels in the ceiling.

Very disappointing. The soup came out cold, sent back. Request for salt and pepper never arrived. Food was lackluster, menu uninspired. Tuna tostados were nice. The butter mixture was lumpy, awful. Our waitress was lovely, and topped off the wine glasses gratis. But that was not sufficient for us to want to return.

Acre is a fantastic restaurant for special occasions or just because. The staff is attentive and very kind, and the food delicious. I enjoyed the lamb shank special and my spouse, the shrimp pasta, appetizers and drinks. Everything was delicious. We mentioned on open table that we were celebrating an anniversary, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel special.highly recommend Acre

Loved it all! Beautiful reinvention of a treasured restaurant. It all feels very fresh and inviting. The food was delicious and just what we wanted for an upscale celebratory lunch-beautifully presented, lovely flavors, generous portions…We will definitely be back!

Went for my wife’s birthday. We were looking forward to a cocktail before dinner. But after 30 minutes, still no cocktail or waitress. I spoke with the manager and the cocktails appeared. To their credit, they took them off the bill, but by this point we had received food prior to, having our celebratory drinks to kick off the meal.
