Across from Millennium park and along Chicago’s Cultural Mile, Acanto Restaurant + Wine Bar is a treasured destination for those who appreciate authentic and approachable Italian food in a conversation-friendly atmosphere. Acanto serves seasonally-driven Italian cuisine from both regions of Italy utilizing artisanal ingredients from Midwest farmers and producers. Acanto boasts one of the most lauded wine programs in the US, including a 3-star rating by World of Fine Wine and a two-glass “Best of Excellence” rating by Wine Spectator. The libations menu is rounded out by Italian classics including spritzes and negronis along with craft cocktails, beer, and spirits.

The word Acanto is the Italian translation of Acanthus, the flowery leaf featured prominently in Roman architecture. Famed architect Louis Sullivan used Acanthus in his distinctive terra cotta ornamentation found on the facade of the historically-landmarked building that houses Acanto.

Please change your menu besides the specials...I eat there before the symphony and can almost recite your menu by heart since it doesn't change that much. Could you please add some more vegetairan pastas and some salads that have more ingredients ( veggies) in them...besides having to add a protein so they could be a meal . Thanks...I do enjoy your restaurant and nice service, but the same menu gets a bit boring. ( had to add something so I could go to "next" please do not post!

Real candles add an ambience you don’t get at other restaurants. Our server was so great explaining some of the menu items. Your water glass will never go empty for long if at all.

Good food, service and atmosphere is so worth the price. We split everything except drinks (one each) and left fully contented, and with a little smaller bill than most. Water glass was never half empty, dishes were scuttled away promptly and discreetly, wait staff was informative and courteous at every turn. Feels like a cozy spot in Europe.
