   We’ve been to 1928 several times but tonight something seemed off - like the chefs ran out of salt or something. Every time we’ve been before we loved every dish and our drinks, so this rating reflects our overall opinion, because we all have a bad day now and again. 1928 has a great “old restaurant” charm, with a nice bar near the entrance and dining rooms winding around the space. Each room has its own unique feel and it’s cozy without feeling cramped. The food has always been great in the past, so tonight was an anomaly, I hope. I’d definitely recommend a visit.

   The tuna tartare is the best in Boston. Cozy atmosphere and beautiful cocktails. Perfect date spot.

   Took an hour for our food to make it to our table. The halibut I ordered was dry and over cooked. They were definitely understaffed and busy since it’s a small venue. Very nice atmosphere but be careful going here around the holidays.

   The hosts were not nice very rude. Our dinner was rushed! We were forced to order apps and main dish at the same time. We asked the waitress to not put or main dish right away since we order 3 apps and wanted to enjoy them with our drinks first. She said no because she had already placed the order. The food was bland everything needed salt. The drinks were weak and the wine was overpriced. Overall terrible experience will not return.

   We arrived a few minutes early to our reservation but were told we’d have to wait an additional ten minutes past our reservation time because the group in front of us weren’t finished yet (even though they supposedly have a strict limit on how long you have a table for this reason). The host then said we could wait at the bar which we did. We got drinks and waited a little while longer. When it was fifteen minutes past our reservation time we noticed others that arrived after our party being seated. When we went to ask the hosts about our table they were romantically entangled and seemed to have forgotten about our existence. Despite us being only a few feet away at the bar they had made no effort to seek us out when our table was ready and had given it away (despite the restaurant’s stated grace period for reservations). It was incredibly embarrassing and awkward to say the least. We did eventually get a table and the rest of dinner passed by without incidence other than a steak that was ordered medium rare and had to be sent back because it was well done. The scallops and risotto were delicious and if I did ever come back I would order it again.

   My wife and I have had dinner several times at 1928 Beacon Hill and really enjoy it. The food is always fresh and served hot. The service and staff in general are always very helpful as well. We've been making it a new favorite location for a night out.
