   My Girlfriend and I went in for a lovely Valentine’s Day Dinner had the most pleasant time. our server Christine was a wonderful, she was great with recommendations and her service was top notch highly recommended her to anyone going for a meal with great service. The food was wonderful highly recommend the Truffle fries, butternut Squash ravioli, prime rib and Risotto! Was a perfect way to cap off the night!

   Food was cold when it arrived and took about 2hrs to get all of our courses think it could have done better and faster with more staff or someone just taking care of the 3 igloos outside you pay extra to be out there should be taken care of better.Got there at 5:15 and didn’t leave until 7:30 took way to long.

   There were of 7 us. As soon as our server Liz came to our table, we let her know that we’d like separate checks. And yes, we get that may be annoying and more work, but we’re at a higher-end restaurant and the prices of the menu items reflect a higher expectation of customer service. Liz told us “the system “ would only allow for 3 bills per table. Huh. We might have believed that load of nonsense …. except we were just at 1878 for breakfast that SAME day, and the server didn’t bat an eye when we asked for separate checks. We were too Midwest nice to point out that out. However a bit later in the service, one of us couldn’t help but mention to Liz that it seemed like processing 7 credit cards might even be more of a hassle than just splitting the checks. Liz told us that “the system” can only take a max of 4 cards. Again, we used 7 cards THAT DAY in the SAME restaurant. Again, none of us really knew how to appropriately respond to a server just straight out lying to our faces. And none of us had cash, so we were all a little panicked on how we were going to figure out the logistics of the random rules Liz kept announcing. But finally, one of us had enough wine and enough crappy service to mention that we were there 10 hours earlier and had 7 bills with 7 cards. That’s when Liz told us that the “system” was “too busy” to process that many cards. Folks, we were the ONLY people in the restaurant. Ummm, at that point it was clear that Liz knew we knew she was making this crap up, but almost daring us to do anything about it. Obviously the “system” was Liz and Liz just wanted to throw one check on our table and not spend a minute extra on anything. For this price point, that's unacceptable.

   2nd time wife and I dined here. Great experience each time. Beet salad outstanding. Filet was juicy and fine very well. Service was perfect. Soups were really good. Award winning mud pie stands up to its name, definitely recommended. Will be going back next stay.

   The flavor and presentation of the food was very very good however everything served was warm to room temperature. Nothing was served hot including the coffees.

   My friends and I went here to celebrate a bachelorette party. We were really looking forward to it because of the menu and nice ambiance according to the website and reviews. Right away, the waitress asked if our group of 10 would be paying with one check, or split. We asked for it to be split and she said, “Are you willing to wait a LONG time for that??” We said yes, that’s fine. She again stressed how LONG it was going to take, for something that she offered to do.. weird. The drinks were amazing, but when the food came, the waitress dropped it all off and said “well, it looks wonderful” and walked away without asking if we needed anything else or asking what we thought of it. We had to call her back over later because the two people who ordered salmon said it was very overly salted on the top crust. Not horrible, but not the quality we were expecting. The bride was one who got the salmon, and got her meal and dessert comped. The other one with the salmon had to pay full price. The bride still paid for her wine, which was totally fine. However, on her check, they still included the gratuity from her entree and dessert. Most of our group have been servers before, so we thought it was extremely odd that gratuity was still added for food that wasn’t on the bill anymore. When the meal was done, one of us found gum stuck to their dress. It had been on the chair. Others said they had found lots of crumbs and food on their seats as well but they had brushed them off. This friend wasn’t so lucky. Overall it just wasn’t as great as we were expecting, especially for a celebration.

   Our family has been visiting Lake Lawn for almost 50yrs. The location has become a central location for family gatherings. We understand the restaurant is in a resort that includes lots of kids activities. I would hope the restaurant / parents could control kids better but to be expected. The menu was well presented, great selections and nice wine choices. Service was a bit slow and our dinner had a few hiccups. We will continue to go back as the history, environment and ambiance cannot be beat.
