   The service is outstanding! They have a good wine selection. Food quality is very good. Their sauces are amazing. The side dishes are well portioned. Atmosphere is very nice. Look forward to my next visit.

   Took my long-time friend for Valentine's Day. We have never tried 1870. I made a reservation a month in advance because it was Valentine's Day. We were seated on the second floor, the Jewett Room. They only have four tables in the room so compared to the bar area, it was quiet. We had a table for 4, so for the 2 of us we had plenty of room. My date started with a cocktail, "The Mother of all President's", which was fabulous. The service was terrific, special shout out to our waiter Jacob. The meal was perfectly prepared. We both had the 6 oz filet mignon and it was so flavorful and tender. We shared the sauteed spinach and au gratin potatoes. For dessert, we split the dark chocolate tart, which went well with our bottle of Caymas Cabernet. I highly recommend for a special occasion. We heard they have a great happy hour, so we will definitely return and check it out.

   Everything about the restaurant was excellent. A real gem in between fast food chains on Midlothian turnpike.

   It was our 1st visit, and we loved the cozy atmosphere on 3rd floor. Our petite filets were perfect, and sides of potatoes au gratin and asparagus were enough to share. The Bread pudding is delicious. Our waitress, Valeria, was informative and delightful. We’ll be back!

   Delightful venue in old brick building. Waitstaff was very attentive, so we didn't have to flag her down. Used china was removed quickly. House specialty bar drinks were delicious. Food was delicious and beef cooked perfectly as ordered. There is a moderate noise factor, but we did not have difficulty hearing each other at our table. Highly recommend for a dinner of excellence.

   The food and service was excellent. My friends and I were impressed and really enjoyed our meal. Our server Aiden was very attentive and kind. I can’t wait to go back with my husband.

    My wife and I just dined at 1870. The food was excellent and the speed of service was fine. Otherwise it wasn't so smooth. When our soups arrived we had to ask for spoons. When the entrees and sides arrived, the table hadn't been cleared and the servers didn't have a tray. It was a real juggling act. We once again had to ask for spoons, in order to serve the side dishes. Not a huge deal, but at this price point we expect more. Also, when we arrived there were about eight other tables seated. One had a small child, a second had two and a third had four. Not a criticism of the restaurant, but not at all what we expected. For the most part their behavior was fine.
