We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

The calamari was the best I've ever had. Unusually thick and tender, yet the wonderful crisp bit with a spicy sauce, tempered by the sweet dipping sauce. Delicious. My entree was the grouper. Magnificent. To make the evening even better was Jojo. Great server.

I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve diner here over the years but I will just say this. If I want to go somewhere where I can almost guarantee I won’t be disappointed in any of the following categories: service, food, drinks, it’s always going to be Poor Calvin’s. I don’t know what Chef Calvin’s secret is, but they seek to never miss a beat.

We always come here for our anniversary, and it's always a great experience. I recommend the Lobster fried rice, best one in Atlanta. Drinks and ambiance are great also.

Both the service and food were excellent. I would recommend PC for anyone looking for an Asian infused jewel of creative dishes served by a knowledgeable wait staff. Definitely a go to place for us.
