Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Kentish Weald-the Garden of England, the Star and Eagle Hotel is located in the village of Goudhurst. Standing over 400ft above sea level, there are outstanding views of the surrounding orchards and hop gardens for which the area is renowned. Dating back to the 14th century, the Star and Eagle has played a significant role in the local history, and was once reputed to have been an ancient monastery. Relics of the vaulted stonework of the period are still visible in some parts of the building. During the 18th century the Inn became the headquarters of the "Hawkhurst Gang", who robbed and terrorised the surrounding district, and planned smuggling raids. Today, behind its attractive timbered gables, the Star and Eagle offers all the comfort and facilities of a 20th century hotel with the charm and atmosphere of a bygone era. Open throughout the year, the Star and Eagle is less than three miles off the main A21 road with easy access.

We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome.     I don’t think there is a better restaurant around here. The food is absolutely outstanding, and they are very accommodating if you need some variation! Services is outstanding again, every single little touch is just amazing! Wine pairings so well done. I can’t recommend this enough. Thanks for another great night! Steph xxx

    Cannot fault this place. 2nd time coming back and we had the valentines menu this time. The food is fantastic and service is incredible. Staff are so lovely. Always a great time here.

    Absolutely could not have been more perfect. The service was impeccable and we were made to feel most welcome. Food was wonderful - really good quality and quantity. We were hugely surprised by an unexpected Happy Birthday plate of strawberries, cream and a cupcake for one of our party whose birthday it was on that day. Really made his day and ours...as we had not told the not the birthday when booking. Staff could not have done more to make the meal very special.

    Awesome location. Very tranquil. Took my mum there and we both loved it. The shop, well I could spend all day and a lot of money. The food, amazing, egss benedict was off the chart. the service, really good. Very helpful staff. Knew their product. Will definitely be returning.
