Best Restaurants for Afternoon Tea in Penarth

Booked for an Afternoon tea for a special occasion... Afternoon tea at the Ivy Cardiff is an event or a spectacle. I think calling it anything else is underselling it. The scones were sublime, the tea as always was exceptional, the sandwiches were light yet filling. The cream cupcakes and the chocolate Bombe are just exceptional. Service was spectacular as always. Truly wonderful experience. Will be going again in the very near future! Superb!

We booked the Slug and Lettuce for a very busy day, Billy Joel in Cardiff. Even so we were told the wait for food would be around 45 minutes, we accepted this as it was so busy. Unfortunately after an hours wait our food arrived and one dish had mayonnaise when we specifically asked not to have mayo. This could have been an allergy as they didn’t ask. The other dish was steak and the steak was so tough it was almost inedible. They were not willing to recook the incorrect dish and gave us a refund for that one dish. That meant that having waited that long we ended up having to go to McDonalds. Pretty rubbish experience to be honest and we would not go back there again, ever!

Lovely food. We waited ages for water so eventually had to go and ask for it as one of our party wasn’t drinking and that was his beverage choice but other than that it was all good.

Had a booking at Slug and Lettuce for a celebratory dinner with my parter. Food and drinks were amazing and so was the service. The staff were so helpful in catering for us, we can wait to come again!
