In the kitchen of this Japanese address near the Olympia Paris 9th, our chef RAOUL interprets the great classics of Japanese gastronomy, but does not shy away from links with French cuisine either. At dinner, the chef takes care to imagine the menu for his customers by offering an “omakase” in 7 Japanese tapas according to their mood and the seasons. The AO Japanese restaurant also offers, like the Izakayas of Tokyo, a menu of hot and cold Japanese tapas. During the week, discover authentic tempuras, sushi and Sashimi made to order by a Japanese chef. Typically Japanese Bentos are offered at lunch.

Le Saotico offers a tasty and french cuisine. "Hum, c'est bon!" is the motto so often used by diners at this restaurant in Paris's 2nd arrondissement, just a stone's throw from Boulevard Montmartre and the Opéra Comique. Accessibility and availability are as much a part of the menu as the service. Market cuisine adapted to the rhythm of the seasons, daily deliveries of high-quality, rigorously selected produce: exclusively French meats, fish from small boats (Dôme fishmonger), and constantly fresh fruit and vegetables. The philosophy of chef Hugues Gournay and his brigade is to whet the appetite, blending flavours and textures without mixing them. Un service diligent où le souci de l'accueil et du détail s'accompagne d'une véritable volonté de rencontrer l'autre ; deux mots essentiels pour Anne Surcouf et son équipe. Buffet and cocktail dinners are also available.

In a corner of the 10th dark and without apparent charm, a village soul radiates around the Church of St. Vincent de Paul. Rue de Belzunce, Thierry Breton has created his bistro empire to the glory of his native Brittany. At number 10, Chez Michel regale in a rustic-authentic setting, a thousand places of fashion in the capital. Crab cake with buckwheat cakes, scallop tartare with green apples, wild rare Tranquil abalone, garlic and parsley, and even the Kig Ha Farz, the typical Breton pot made from beef cheek and veal shank . Went for a dinner reservation in November, and we requested to sit on the terrace, but they do not serve dinner outdoors at that time (drinks only). Despite that, the service was great and the food was delicious. It's a more fine dining experience, so food presentation and service was elevated. Do note that they don't serve tap water - but do have unlimited still or sparkling water for 5 Euros per person.

I am an absolute sucker for a gorgeous dish, so I decided to book myself a table at ANONA to cap off a two week trip through the Balkans. I arrived thirty minutes early, was seated promptly by an extremely welcoming maître de, and was left to settle in with my book while the bartender crafted me a cocktail based on my favourite liquor (whiskey) and desired tasting notes (a bit sweet, something fruity and unique). Appropriately enough I was reading “Eat a Peach” by chef David Chang and had landed on a passage where he recalled a family meal with chefs of different tongues and how the element of not fully knowing what he was eating enriched his experience. He was absolutely correct. Though the wait staff (by my count I was served by maybe 5 or 6 different staff members) did their best to cater to my monolingual ignorance, I didn’t always catch the full descriptions of the incredible six courses that were served to me. There were sea water emulsions, roe, gorgeous proteins, intricately composed savoury sorbets, and so many local flavours that married expertly with the varied textures and temperatures that cohesively came together in an expertly crafted meal. There were some dishes I favoured over others but I believe for the price and quality of the food, let alone the experience, I would absolutely recommend ANONA. On top of a unique chefs menu, the restaurant itself is pristine and the staff are incredibly attentive and professional. I did not go more than five minutes without extending thanks to someone for excellent service. Well done.
