Il Terrazzo Carmine, owned and operated by Carmine Smeraldo, is one of Seattle's true dining anomalies - a highly successful restaurant with unfailingly high standards and a loyal, sophisticated clientele. The cuisine has been acclaimed as Seattle's best by the media and more importantly, by local diners. Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

Its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home. The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. I consider myself a pretty hard-core "foodie", and Terra Plata is my favorite restaurant for great food, great service, and great vibes in Seattle. Tonight we had a group of 13 for dinner before a show at the Paramount Theater. Our server was attentive and did a perfect job of pacing tje food to get us out the door at the preferred time. I let him choose our courses, and he wisely asked questions around the table about preferences and restrictions before sending out an amazing selection. The food was stellar, as is the norm for Terra Plata. After we finished, I had THREE of my guests come to me to tell me that it was one of the best meals they had ever eaten. Terra Plata really is that good! The Brussels sprouts are a personal favorite and everyone agreed that they were amazing. But there wasn't a single dish that was less than a 5/5 experience. Other highlights were the confit lamb riblets, beef cheek gnocchi, and blistered shishito peppers. If you go to Terra Plata as a group, try ordering family-style so you can taste more options.

Locus Wines is a true little diamond in the rough of Pioneer Square. Set on the bricks of histoiric Occidental Square, it is a perfect spot for a glass (or two) of amazing wine and lite bites after work, before a game, or while you are visiting the newly revitalized area. The food was delicious and beautifully presented - salumi meats, fresh from France cheeses (from a local cheese monger), and a mezze platter with housemade dips. We also had some of the savory filo pastries with lamb - outstanding And then to the wine - Locus should be on every oenophiles list. Time only allowed for a couple of bottles for our group but Locus Red blend was a perfect full bodied accompaniment to the bites. And not only do they have a very popular wine club, but the retail store where the wine bar is located is also well stocked with a marvelous selection of wines (that will entice you to try them all! ) The venue's location is great - and there is also perfect little place for a small group - they have a wonderful private room in the back that worked out beautifully. I understand they also often have live music and other events in the space And lastly, the service! Keenaan, the Tasting Room Manager, took amazing care of our group and the others in the venue like we were guests in his home - warm greetings, pouring wine, making all the food, and managing the place all with a smile makes this a not to miss stop in Pioneer Square! It's nice to see Pioneer Square coming back to life after the difficult patch these last few years - I can't wait for patio season when we can raise a glass of magnificent wine and toast the beauty of Seattle summers again! Sante!
