Best International Restaurants in Loughton

Our favourite Italian restaurant. Visited for a valentine lunch, and had the whole place to ourselves. Amazing all round as always. Crab starter, delicious. Chicken Milanese, delicious. Strawberry mousse, amazing - could have eaten several portions it was that good. Wife loved her lamb and soup. Service is exceptional, Theo is the perfect host. We will return, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are coming up and The Gables is the perfect restaurant to celebrate.

Our waiter Marcel was fantastic. He heard that we didn't like one of the dishes, and offered to take it off the bill! We didn't ask as we wanted to experiment with no strings attached; what a lovely gesture from him. The rest of the food was impeccable as always, and the atmosphere is romantic and cheerful. For reference, our favourite steak on the menu happens to be the cheapest one! - Denver steak - Beef dripping chips - Chop sauce - Chilli hollandaise (for dipping the chips) - White chocolate and wild berry cheesecake - Sweet potato (not so good) Would absolutely recommend coming here, as the price is fair and the service is awesome! 😎

Great place, very quirky and cosy. We had lunch Caesar salad’s for lunch, the chicken was a bit dry and there wasn’t a great amount of sauce so had to ask for more, the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend the truffle chips. I’ll definitely be going back as really like the venue and it’s local.

Great value afternoon tea. Excellent selection of sandwiches and cakes, loved the quirky surroundings. It was very quiet when we were there which suited perfectly.

We originally booked a table for the wine tasting, but due to the lack of information on the site we couldn't find the part that said the wine tasting started at 7 30pm and since we have never been we booked a table, we were not happy when we turned up at 4 30 that not only wa the wine tasting at 7 30pm but the fact that the website also messed up booking availability because they didn't even open until 5pm. I was devastated, but Bernadette who was working that day absolutely saved the day with her amazing service and attitude and if not for her we wouldn't of even have stayed or enjoyed ourselves as much.
