- GGrahamBerkshire •5 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoToday was my mate John's birthday. I had arranged a birthday lunch for my mate John at The White Oak at Cookham. It's part of the Brucan Group. Me and my partner had eaten at their Finchampstead pub The Greyhound on several occasions so I guess I knew roughly what to expect. We started by sharing 6 oysters. Delicious. John had the grilled mackerel on squid Bolognese with samphire. Spot on. I had the steak tartare. Delightful. We both went for the braised beef shoulder on mustard mash. Cabbage seriously good. Absolutely delicious. They kindly presented John with a happy birthday plate of chocolate brownie or sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Made John smile. Thank you The White Oak for a perfect birthday lunch. Very highly recommended. Cheers...More infoThe White OakPrice: Expensive• English• Maidenhead•4.4
- PPiersWashington, D.C. Area •5 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 1, 2025This is such a perfect country pub. The welcome is always very warm, the food is excellent (both quality and variety), and the wide selection of beers well kept. It is equally lovely outside in summer or inside in winter. We have been visiting for many years and it is always superb. Makes a great day out from London or Oxford, walking for about an hour from Charlbury station through the Cotswolds countryside.More infoThe Plough Inn FinstockPrice: Moderate• English• Burford•4.7
