Tex-Mex cuisine began in the Rio Grande Valley before migrating up to San Antonio during the l860's where a group of women known as The Chili Queens' began to pop up in the city's plazas selling chili con carne with tamales, enchiladas, and chili verde. They incorporated cumin into their dishes favored by settlers from theCanary lslands, which still has a strong influence on Mexican food in Texas. This is such a fantastic restaurant! Our adult kids love it when we treat them to the Jackalope experience. The dishes are always incredible, brisket, smoked meats, and their drink menu is equally as stellar. My husband and I tried brunch last week and were as impressed. If you have t been yet, go!

The pizza was outstanding! All the salads we tried were also very good as well. What stood out as exceptional was the service. Our servers were kind and just the right style of attentive to our big group. They made the night a huge success.

The service was EXCEPTIONAL. The staffing going above and beyond for a birthday at our table. The food was delicious, especially the Benedict's. Access directly off of 5 in the Renaissance with comped underground parking or valet. Will definitely return.
