Their pastrami is really delicious; juicy and flavorful.More infoThe Refuge - San MateoPrice: Moderate• Gastro Pub• San Mateo•4.7

- MMadhuSan Francisco Bay Area •3 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoWe initially booked a table for two, but two of our colleagues joined us later, making it a party of four. I must say, this place is phenomenal! We got there by 4:30, and the place was already quite crowded. This was my first time visiting, and I actually found out about Jaks through Forbes magazine. The ambiance was fantastic—not like your typical Indian restaurant. It was clean, simple, and very well done. Honestly, you wouldn’t even guess it was an Indian restaurant at first glance because the decor was so modern and upscale. They have a full bar, and we enjoyed a couple of cocktails, which were amazing! We also tried four sharable plates, and every single one was interesting and unique. The chef’s signature dishes, especially the sea bass, lamb shank, and lamb chops, were absolutely stunning. The flavors were so authentic, and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive, which made the whole experience even better. I heard from one of my colleagues that the menu changes every six months, which is pretty exciting. I’m already looking forward to trying their lunch menu next time. Overall, it’s a great place for dining—whether for a casual meal or something special. This was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely be back soon!More infoJaks Authentic Indian & Modern VibePrice: Moderate• Indian• Santa Clara•4.1
