After a two-year closure, Original Joe's, San Francisco’s quintessential Italian-American dining destination, revitalized iconic Daly City institution Joe’s of Westlake, and reintroduced it into the community as Original Joe’s Westlake. An anchor of Daly City from 1956 to 2014, Original Joe’s Westlake underwent an extensive two-year renovation, complete with a front-to-back interior remodel, including the kitchen and all dining spaces, and an exterior and landscaping overhaul. Following the Original Joe’s tradition, Westlake continues to prepare unpretentious, old-school Italian-American fare in an open kitchen for all to see. The menu is carefully crafted to reflect a past-meets-present hybrid of what Joe’s of Westlake used to be and what Original Joe’s Westlake is today.

Boasting Sputnik lighting, terrazzo flooring and redwood accents throughout, Original Joe’s Westlake elicits mid-century America in the likes of Palm Springs, Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. The newly reimagined Cascade Room features show-stopping pimento orange banquettes, and offers a variety of options for large gatherings—from private rehearsal dinners and memorial receptions, to smaller non-private family dinners, class reunions and birthday celebrations. With beautiful custom sliding doors, the Cascade Room can be divided in half, creating two fully private event spaces, accommodating up to 50 guests each.

    Nice birthday lunch for my dad. The service was great. Hostess seated us immediately upon check in. Waiters were super attentive and kind enough to bring a small dessert with candle for his birthday. We ordered the brunch burger, lasagne, and fettuccine alfredo. Surprisingly, the best dish was the fettuccine! Would definitely book again for another birthday celebration. Thank you!

    We typically have wonderful experiences, but this time was not consistent with their standard. It was nearly 40 minutes after we ordered before our food arrived without even a single visit from our server to check in or provide and update (or even ask if we needed anything during all of that time). In additional, the charge was inconsistent with the menu price and there was an added fee for my side that was never mentioned. Collectively, the experience was fine, but not the special meal we’d previously come to expect. Our server was friendly, but not attentive or helpful.

    Wait staff was super friendly. The wait time for the food after ordering was too long. I had the battered filet of sole with mashed potatoes. It was over salted and the mashed potatoes looked like it had been plated too soon…it was not soft and fluffy but more solid as if it had been sitting out too long. The others in my party had pasta dishes and they seemed to like it. I don’t think it was worth the price of the meals.

    In spite of the fact that Original Joe's was quite busy, we were seated within 5 mins. of our reservation. The receptionists and wait staff were energetic, welcoming as usual. Love the vibe and mix of young families with children, multi generational families and professionals. It's also a neighborhood go to place. Our portions of veal milanese with ravioli; fettucini alfredo with prawns and Joe's special with ravioli were generous and nicely seasoned. We will return again and again. I am a former guest at the Original Joe's on Taylor where we met the late owner, Tony Rodin. His daughter, Marie and the Duggans are doing him proud.

    I can’t remember our waiters name, but he was such a nice middle-age gentleman, and he packaged all our leftovers. He was so sweet.
