About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Lively
As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

Oldie but goodie. Went to a piano recital at Carnegie Hall and remembered Nobu was down the street cause I did not have dinner before the recital. The kitchen is open with last call at 11:15 New york is open late for business again. The ambience sort of sucks because it became a restaurant for the tourists and the scene crowds and the gen pop. So if you want Danielle this is not. However what it lacks in ambience this restaurant makes up in food and service. Try the tuna jalapeño and the Waygu beef on a hot stone. The beef is superb and melts in your mouth. It’s worth it I sent complements to the chef. They have what they claim to be a sake reserve exclusive for Nobu. The price of the bottle ranges from 400 to 700. I tried one and must confess it was really good and gave me a buzz that lasted. However because we go to Japan every year to visit family we were curious if we could drink these there. Quick on the spot research revealed that the bottle I had is sold there on the open market for about 9000 JPY which is the equivalent of $67 USD. Not sure how it got to 400 dollars here but be it as it may to me it was worth it. Service is superb by staff befit of a tourist restaurant meaning not Japanese authentic. However I was surprised that the service was really good with very attentive waiters and support staff who promptly clean the table. Even the hostess and hosts we’re not obnoxious and self important which is a huge plus in what has now become a gen pop tourist restaurant. I highly recommend this place in a pinch. Go for the food and service not for the atmosphere if you are local to the discerning dining establishments of NYC

Service was fantastic. Server made suggestions when needed, and all were great. All the staff constantly working together to clean tables and bring dishes out. We had a great corner table upstairs and got to look out at the lovely decorated dining room. Food was very good, beautifully displayed, and each food item was hot. Wished menu had more of description of what to expect.

The food was excellent but the hi light of the evening was our server. Dion was above and beyond the best. A great personality and wonderful suggestions for entries and dessert. 10 out of 10

What a great experience celebrating my wife’s 50th birthday. The server was so helpful making drink and food suggestions (which is tough because we are somewhat regulars).
