As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

    It was a great experience, went there for my wife's birthday, do not regret it. It is pricy but it is worth every cent. Food was Magnificent nothing bad to say.

    First time here and had high expectations based on reputation, but the service was below par. Was expecting our server to show us the way; however, he lacked interest, enthusiasm and frankly, skill as a culinary guide. Even upon continued asking of the menu and process, we were delivered robotic responses of no help. Server assistant, on the other hand, was friendly, helpful and on his game. Would not return based on this $600 failed experience.

    Our server was unfriendly and at times openly hostile. Almost felt intimidated. We don’t expect to receive this treatment in a restaurant with $60 entrees. The food was good but not a good value. The ambience has changed: Nobu used to be a high-end, elegant experience. The patrons now are a mix of rappers, poorly dressed tourists, Euro trash and twenty somethings on their cellphones. Have been going to Nobu here and downtown for many years. Not likely to return. There are much better choices in New York City for high end Japanese.
