Velvet 48 is a premium wine bar in downtown Burlingame started by 20-year wine industry veteran, Jason Cooper. We offer over 40 wines by the glass, 1100 wines by the bottle, a cultivated beer selection, and a variety of delicious savory and sweet small plates.
We have wines across every price point so there is something for everyone, from the casual wine drinker to the wine aficionado, who will be impressed by a wine collection that houses some of the finest wines in the world. We aim to cultivate an experience for our guests that starts with a complimentary splash of our house label, Velvet 48 Sparkling wine, followed by outstanding service from our Wine Specialists to guide you through our expansive list. As Chef Jose Rodriguez puts it aptly: ''When I am not in the kitchen cooking, I am experimenting and reinventing myself continually. I don't know any other way to feel alive.'' After a long hiatus, Chef Rodriguez returns to Trapeze where he always felt at home. Under a new management, Jose is granted the opportunity to express his creativity in his work freely. With years of experience and much amassed recognition in some of the most well known Michelin Star awarded restaurants in the Bay Area, we are all excited to see what wonders he will bring.
''In addition to my regular menu, I'm trying what I call approachable foods - simpler in some cases and more sophisticated creations in other'' said Mr. Rodriguez, who has been working as a private chef and caterer for over 20 years.

    The cocktail and mocktails were both delicious. We had the crocettes which were great. My dish was excellent but my daughter was not impressed by her dinner of curry. Service was excellent and very attentive.

    The food was amazing. It didn’t take too long. The skewers, the chicken and the lamb shank ( that would melt in your mouth ) were my favorite to name a few. Our waitress made our experience over the top. She was probably one of the best servers I’ve had in a long time at a restaurant.

    Wonderful! Had the sea bass— which was a whole small fish with lovely potato’s, asparagus and sauces. Had linguini with seafood. Full of juicy fat prawns, shrimp, scallops, mussels. The sauce was exquisite? Wine flights, yummy bread with dipping oil, salad so delicate, cheesecake for desert. I am in heaven here! Great staff!
