- TToniaBerkshire •1 review4.0Dined 4 days agoWe had a lovely stay at the Berystede hotel, we had to upgrade our room as the original twin was small dark and damp! But the deluxe double was lovely and very comfortable! The spa was very nice and our treatments were excellent, although the outside area near the hydro pool could use some attention! The bar was nice but a bit of music would have made a better atmosphere! Unfortunately the food wasn’t great! We had pate to start and there was a layer of fat sitting on top which was horrid, the pate itself was freezing cold and very rich with overpowering orange taste, yuck! I had lasagna for mains and it was dry and burnt on top. Overall our stay was nice and I would go back but the food was Very disappointing!More infoAcanthus Restaurant at Macdonald Berystede Hotel & SpaPrice: Expensive• British• Ascot•3.8
- RRobertEast Sussex •5 reviews4.0Dined 4 days agoThe Bailiwick specialises in game, so this is probably not the place to bring your vegan or veggie friends! However, if you enjoy meat then the food will not disappoint It has a 'country pub' atmosphere, but the food is definitely 'nouvelle cuisine' in its presentation. We took two of our friends there who we know enjoy fine dining and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It would be a great place to bring overseas visitors. An nice little 'amuse-bouche'; freshly baked bread with home made butter; the starters were excellent (I had their take on a Cullen Skink and it was very substantial - it would have made a decent lunch in its own right!) and the mains are really interesting. Two of our party had the Windsor Great Park Red Deer - presented in four separate ways - I had Teal (never had it before) which was again presented in a number of ways - melt in the mouth breasts just barely cooked; a miniature 'cottage pie', etc. Limited vegetables, so maybe share a side? The serving staff explained all the dishes and were attentive without being intrusive. I would say the only slight disappointment was some of the desserts; the 'Tiramisu' was really just a chocolate mousse with a dark chocolate coating. It was fine, but I like the traditional Italian Tiramisu, but maybe that was me! Conversely, one of our friends had the sticky toffee doughnuts which they said were delicious, so I may have that next time, although in truth two courses would have been sufficient, especially if you have a side of vegetables. We spent £334 in total for 3-courses for 4 people including drinks and service, which we agreed was reasonable for the quality and the presentation of the food and the overall experience. One final comment: the restaurant is very 'dog friendly' so that may be a positive or a negative for some people.More infoThe Bailiwick Free HousePrice: Very Expensive• Gastro Pub• Egham•4.7

The food was outstanding, the cheese doughnuts tasted incredible as did the mackerel salad. A lovely gastro pub in Old Windsor, I will be booking to eat here again! 10/10More infoThe Loch & The Tyne by Adam HandlingPrice: Expensive• British• Windsor•4.7
