Max's of Redwood City used to be a great venue for a hardy meal, group celebrations or family outings. Recently it has really shown it's age and is dated. The staff are just doing their job and getting through another shift. Once a place we looked forward going to, now it's a last resort.

The turkey dinner for thanksgiving was so-so. Turkey was dry and dressing was a bit burned. Veggies and mash potatoes were good. Service was good even though it was busy.

Service was stellar, food was good and abundant! We live in the Diablo Valley and the one by us closed years ago, so when we were out this way it was great to visit an old favorite

Ordered the always favorite chicken pot pie. A bit disappointed as they seem to have parsed out the chicken sparingly as well as the gravy/broth. I had mostly celery and carrots under a somewhat still doughy shell. A friend with me experienced the same. Bad pot pie day? When my friends ordered their favorite carrot cake, unfortunately they found it dry and unenjoyable. When it was brought to the attention of our server, he referred it to a manager(?) who seemed offended at their not liking the product. Because they each had tried a bite or two, he said he would credit for half a slice. Half a slice??!!? Really!?! He relented and credited the whole amount of the cake slice, but based on his attitude and the double food disappointment, doubt we will be visiting this location again.

The Restaurant could use a good cleaning especially the floors in the dining room. Employees are very nice and the food is usually good. The restaurant allows non guide dogs in with there owners in the dining room, that was a deal breaker for me. I have had dogs my while life and love dogs but would never take them inside of a restaurant.

Used to eat at Max's in San Francisco when I lived there. Always loved it. Tried the Redwood City location last week and it was just as good as the SF locations. Great, diverse menu, huge portions and great service. Couldn't be more satisfied.

We travelled 42 minutes during commute time to visit Max's of Redwood City because our local Max's, at Stanford Shopping Center, has closed. We were dismayed to find the restaurant so empty between 6:15 and 7:45, on a Thursday, because we fear that means this RC Max's isn't long for this world. We love the Prime Rib Thurs - Sat. special: it's one of the bet deals in the area and we don't want to lose it. 42 minutes is quite a long time, in our opinion, to travel for dinner, so we suspect Max's at Stanford's Customers won't make the trip enough to sustain this Redwood City outpost, about 1/4 mi North of the Woodside Road underpass on El Camino. The Prime Rib dinner was outstanding. Very generous slab of beef; large baked potato with the works; creamed spinach or broccoli; and four large delicious cookies for dessert. All for $30. Wine list extensive and reasonable. A plea to all the remaining carnivores out there: give it a try. If there's two of you, the carpool lane on 101 should make it faster than 42 minutes (from South Palo Alto area). That's what we'll try next time!.
