   Madison is somewhere that I enjoy visiting every so often. Their drinks are very curated and always great tasting and gorgeous. The food is darn delicious but carb heavy sometimes.

   We sat outdoors, street-side. Heat lamps were in use but not necessary. Service was on the slow side, as our server appeared to be covering numerous tables. Cocktails were very good. Food was good and of sufficient amount. The prices for the items on the menu were surprisingly moderate and acceptable.

   Excellent food and cocktails. Good service. Sat in the bar area as opposed to outside, which may have been quieter - would suggest as the evening gets busier.

   The food was really good. We had a reservation for 11:30 and we waited about 10 minutes. We had an outdoor reservation and it was warm. It took them a LONG time to acknowledge us and took them longer to bring us an umbrella. We didn't get water until 40 minutes after our reservation time. It took us over two hours to leave. When people who sat long after us had water and had their order taken. They took forever to bring us the check, even longer to come bring us the machine to pay, and stared at us as we were tipping for terrible service. They blamed it on the machines when we saw our waitress going to other tables. It was such terrible service and there was no apologies. Like I said, we had no complaints about the food, it was a great brunch menu. But it was awful service.

   We generally like Madison. Volume inside is deafening, so we grab an outside table. Cocktails are excellent. Our food was a mix. Apps and desserts were top notch, but three of the five mains were meh. The lemon pasta had no lemon flavor. The lobster risotto was luke warm and while there was enough lobster meat in it, there was no infused lobster flavor. I think the whole place seemed to having an off night. The host made us wait, though our table was ready and we stood by it (since we were outside waiting) for ten minutes. Again, nothing terrible, but just off. Previous visits have been good and we will go back, giving them the benefit of the doubt. So four stars despite the mixed review for this one visit.

   Thank you to our server on Saturday for accommodating a request to return a drink that we honestly did not like. It was not in our nature to do something like that, but maybe we’re not as adventurous enough to try cookies and cream espresso martinis lol

    Great food, ambiance, and good service. But definitely on the pricey side.. even for San Diego. Spent just under $100 for three apps and two beers.
