The service and environment was wonderful! The meatball app was delicious, the orecchiette was not what I was expecting, not much sausage and exceptionally heavy on the cheese. The bolognese didn’t have much meat. I’ve definitely had better Italian food in the north end. And I do feel the food was better here the last time I visited.

I don't know how they do it! Great food and service every time. Actually, I do, the wait staff was excellent, and I saw at least three managers helping out keeping things spot on. They even tracked down the valet after so we could get to the game on time. The three of us loved every dish that came to the table. There are so many great spots in the North End but it's hard not to go to Lucca's every time...

Our experience here was okay, though slightly disappointing as I had very high hopes. We arrived 10 min early for our reservation and the hostess seemed kind of annoyed. There isn’t a good area to wait, so we felt in the way. Once seated, our server quickly greeted us and was attentive and awesome throughout our meal. We were served focaccia with a purée which I believe was white bean and pesto, though the person who brought it didn’t bother to tell us. I had the arugula salad which was delicious, followed by the wild boar ragu which was oddly filled with cherry tomatoes and had an overwhelming flavor of bell pepper. Disappointing and decidedly not Tuscan. My companion had the bolognese which we were very excited about, but it was seemingly finished with a lot of heavy cream rather than simmering the dairy earlier in the process. It dulled the flavors and gave it a fatty mouthfeel. Again, disappointing. On ambience, it it was a visually appealing dining room; however, the noise level was intense (and I’m not old/sensitive to that sort of thing). Overall, our excellent service was the highlight of this meal. We will not return here. Too many other places to try.

We had a great time at Lucca North End for a festive holiday dinner with friends. The restaurant has a cozy yet lively atmosphere. They were accommodating in making everyone's order meet their dietary needs. They even made a nice mocktail for my friend who wasn't drinking. I had the Fettuccine, which was very tasty. Nice staff all around.

food was excellent, service was fully adequate...but the noise level destroyed the dining experience. i i suggest you go elsewhere if you plan talking (vs. yelling) to your dinner companion. worse than most Friday night bars at midnight.

3 meat Meatballs with Ricotta was really good. Bolognese was tasty and filling. The Braised Chicken with Pesto was our favorite, Full of Flavor. Stag's Leap Petite Syrah was great.
