Wonderful, fresh, inventive seafood dishes for very enjoyable evening out while traveling. We will definitely be back. Kenny was a very attentive server without excessive hovering. Lots of locals were there for happy hour. Their happy hour offerings must be very good! We were reserved for the dining room, and the service was wonderful even though we were on the early side of dinner. Loved the daily specials that seemed super fresh. Red Snapper tartare was amazing. The ahi tuna and crab cakes entrees were also fantastic. Drinks were well prepared and portioned. The cranberry orange crème brulee had a refreshing flavor and was just the right touch for a shared dessert. Thank you.

We split a sample plate. It was over-the-top spectacular! It had something like 10 Virgen dishes and for meat dishes. Each one of them was unique, perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and highlighting the individual ingredients. It was served with the Ethiopian flatbread sourdough, which was also perfectly Prepared, light and spongy. There are Ethiopian pieces of artwork which were beautiful to look at. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant, but she kept up amazingly well! We enjoyed the entire experience.

Wonderful place, the food was amazing! We got the short ribs and grilled shrimp and both were really good. I did think the short ribs weren’t very filling compared to the shrimp though. The presentation was really good and the atmosphere was wonderful. I also really enjoyed the drinks. I would totally go again, just would probably eat at the speakeasy below for the quieter more intimate vibes.

I have been searching for a good French onion soup to rival that of a restaurant near my college campus in Philadelphia for over 30 years and finally found it. The fried chicken was amazing. It was actually better than fried chicken I’ve had in Asheville from a place that specializes in good fried chicken. The care and attention they give to preparing the food as rival only by the care and attention they give to guests. The staff, which is friendly knowledgeable and accommodating, is a big asset. Tonari is our Wafu Italian restaurant. WAFU means Japanese-style, so our menu is a Japanese take on Italian food. It originated in Japan through the love that the Japanese had for Italian food but wanted to incorporate some of their cultural flavors and ingredients to them. We at Daikaya Group and chef & owner, Katsuya Fukushima, are bringing this experience to you here in DC.
