The minimalist, meat-centric menu and bargain craft cocktails at Soho's Blacklock have proved so popular that it launched two more restaurants, one in the City and another in Shoreditch. For its venue, the restaurant transformed the basement of a once-seedy building near Picaddilly Circus (they don't mind telling you it used to be a brothel) into a trendy, industrial-chic space with communal tables and exposed brick. The menu is a showcase for the finest British meat cut from carefully sourced heritage breeds. Lamb, beef, and pork chops come in skinny, big, and off-the-bone cuts a la carte. Side options are substantial and flavorful, among them beef dripping chips, a 10-hour ash-roasted sweet potato, and barbecued baby gem lettuces with anchovy dripping. On Sundays, Blacklock offers an old-fashioned British roast.

A seasonal delight at Angler, on top of the South Place Hotel, is the rooftop terrace with views across the city. A retractable roof extends the availability of coveted terrace seating, but every seat in the house promises a delightful dining experience, especially for those who love fish and seafood. What a fantastic experience. We are fans of “nose to tail” dining and love dishes made with organ meats and other elements not usually served in restaurants. Even so the cuisine here was extraordinary: Exceptionally well cooked and simply presented. And our server James was both knowledgeable and very attentive. All around a smashing dinner. When we return to London we will most definitely come back.

The food is top notch, one of the very best places in London, with a great wine list. Service is effortlessly good. The space is simply decorated and arranged but it works well. The noise level was a bit too much for 60+ ears half way through the evening although staff said lunch is quieter so I may take them up on that. In any event a place worth visiting again!

This is an amazing Michelin star restaurant. The food, service and ambience are top class. We enjoyed my birthday celebration with the family. The set menu was fantastic and totally worth the money spent. It is pricey though but to be expected with such a restaurant.
