LaSalle Grill, a modern American Bistro featuring steaks and chops cooked over a live hardwood fire, is born of the dream of experienced restaurateur Mark McDonnell. Like the restaurant’s namesake, noted French explorer, Robert de LaSalle, McDonnell set out to explore the uncharted waters of downtown South Bend, Indiana. In April of 1991, McDonnell opened a lively and exciting restaurant unlike any other in the area.

LaSalle Grill is committed to providing guests with excellent service, great atmosphere, an award-winning wine list and, most importantly, delicious cuisine that is artfully and dramatically presented.

The Grill has been presented with the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award every year since 1996.

LaSalle Catering is the off-premise catering arm of LaSalle Grill. LaSalle Catering specializes in all sizes of catered events in a 60 mile radius of South Bend, Indiana. We are particularly adept in executing difficult events in unusual locations. As founder Mark McDonnell likes to say, "difficult is not impossible". It's the little details that count. They make the difference between "a nice event" and "a great party!" At LaSalle Catering & Events we pay attention to all of the little details of your event ... the preparations, presentations and above all the service.

LaSalle Grill offers 2 private dining rooms. The larger accommodates from 15 to 80 guests. The smaller accommodates up to 22 guests. Both are located on the 2nd floor.

From the moment we walked in, the Birthday Girl was treated like a queen. Everyone came over to the table to say hello and HBD, the wine was perfect, the filets were seasoned to perfection, the appetizer/salad was tasty, as usual, and the molten lava cake capped off the perfect evening! Thank you to TC, Casey and the entire staff for making our experience wonder, as usual!

A visit to LaSalle Grill is like meeting up with a classy old friend. You've seen them before, nothing has changed-you know what to expect-but you're good with that-that's why you go. You feel comfortable there-you don't have to put on a show. Yet this classy old friend doesn't disappoint. No matter how long it may be between visits, when you again experience; taste the expected...ah well, you know this is where you belong.

Very good attention to detail. Very clean and very welcoming. Food was great and the wait time wasn't too bad either. My lamb was cooked to what I actually asked for. It's a great place for a good date night with your partner.

Overall it nice. But for the price I expected better. I was disappointed with the presentation of my filet mignon. It was of excellent quality, but the butter garnishment was refrigerator cold and the steak was served warm rather than hot. This left the butter unmelted. I removed it to prevent it from further cooling the steak before I could eat. Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese was excellent. Amish Chicken (which my wife had) was very good, though she thought it not quite as good as a nearby competitor. We were in the middle of the restaurant and I still thought the kitchen noise was a bit loud for my liking (there is an open door directly onto the main floor). If we were seated closer, I would have hated it - one of my hard rules is never sit near the kitchen, it's a deal breaker. And here, even 15-20 feet away was too close. The service was excellent and everything it could be or could be expected to be. I would be cautious to consider this one experience to be more than an aberation vs all the good things I had heard about this restaurant. But for me it is enough to not go back. Overall for this price, it's hard to overcome my experience and I think there are other restaurants in the area I would choose first.
