The food is well thought through with reasonable rather than "stuff your face" portions. Nothing too fancy and well executed.More infoBill's Restaurant & Bar - NottinghamPrice: Moderate• British• Nottingham•4.6

The waitress was attentive without being over enthusiastic and Carol’s home made bread was as good as we remembered. Both our meals were delicious and the wine (we always have a bottle) was not over priced. The landlord was also attentive but never in your face. We will be going back.More infoThe WheatsheafPrice: Moderate• British• Oakham•4.9

First time trying this venue after the new owner took over and what a remarkable experience after the previous owners efforts. Bernard (new owner) has got it spot on with his varied and choice menus with theme nights offered weekly together with a la carte choices. Something for everybody's taste and a decent wine selection. We opted for the crispy chilli calamari starter followed by the king prawn curry with papadums and nan. The calamari was super soft with just the right amount of kick from the chillies. The curry was a welcome change from the normal pub curries and had a Mauritian slant to it in a rich tomato base with really decent size king prawns and steamed basmati. . The portions were substantial! We were offered a complimentary desert celebrating our wedding anniversary and it came in the form of apple crumble with custard and ice cream ….. the crumble being very fine and perfectly baked. I can thoroughly recommend the Old Pheasant and looking forward to the Friday night fish feast which has become a firm favourite with locals.More infoThe Old PheasantPrice: Moderate• Pub• Uppingham•4.5
