- NNancy ElizabethVIPGreater Boston •13 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoAnother outstanding experience at The Hermitage. The chef Michael consistently turns out beautiful plates, perfectly cooked regardless of what you order. We sampled the special cinnamon bun baked in a skillet. It is indescribable - so delicious. While we split it between 4, we could have easily had another person share it with us - a generous portion. Eggs with fillet mignon or lobster crepes - just perfectly prepared. Skiers and those who are just relaxing in the area should make every effort to sample lunch, brunch and dinner. While special celebrations are in order in the grand, elegant dining room, brunch, lunch, early or late dinner are very cozy in the tavern bar. My family appreciates the variety of offerings when we gather and we appreciate the romantic atmostphere for just the two of us. The wine list is exceptional. The prices at The Hermitage are similar to much lesser restaurants locally. I would chose this location over any other in the valley for my personal style of eating - fresh, simple, ample, local in a beautiful location. Thank you!More infoThe Hermitage InnPrice: Expensive• American• Dover•4.4
- CCatherineNew York City •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoHad 1 pm reservations for a Friday lunch and were seated promptly. Dining room was full which was a sign of its popularity. The dining room was nicely decorated and the table settings and tablecloths were a quality touch. Nathan, our server was exceedingly polite and welcoming: a professional in all respects. We ordered the Chicken pot pie. I noticed that no side salad was available on the menu and asked Nathan if one were available. He said it wasn’t a problem at all and the side salads provided were perfect. The pot pie was served in a a tall, cup-like dish, sitting in a lower, wider dish, topped with a puff-pastry biscuit on top. We actually weren’t sure how to eat it and Nathan explained we should remove the pastry, pour the pot pie into the larger dish, and put the pastry on top. The instructions were very helpful and given in such a way as to not embarrass us, much to Nathan’s credit. The pot pie was delicious with generously-sized portions of white meat. We ordered a side of breads, a small basket with a variety of rolls. All were freshly made and tasty. We finished with apple pie a la mode. The pie was also freshly-made and delicious, with a fluffy crust totally different than mass-produced pies. Red Lion is definitely worth the visit: both the food and staff are exceptional and the Inn is just full of character. Make sure you make reservations!More infoThe Red Lion InnPrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Stockbridge•4.4
