Foghorn Brewery was born of a dream to make craft beer the way it ought to be made—from grain to glass all under one roof.The historic building in King Street had been abandoned for several years when we first set foot inside. In that dusty old warehouse, we saw the potential to create something really special.And so it was that Newcastle’s first modern craft brewery opened its doors in April 2015. The town’s industrial roots have played a big part in shaping the unique character of Foghorn Brewery. Built from the ground up, this art deco era warehouse with exposed roof trusses now houses a custom 1800 litre brewery.

Instead, you’ll need to text a special code to a number on the wall and a host will open the door and usher you inside. Holding fewer than 60 guests, it’s this old world ambience that sets Coal & Cedar apart from Newcastle’s bar scene.Ethan and Ryan are the team behind the venture. In 2014, they packed their bags and moved from Sydney to the state’s largest regional city to work on their new dream bar.     We had the most extraordinary dinner - the service, the quality of the food was outstanding. We were looked after by Andy and Phiny and they were both so nice, friendly and helped us with what we needed to order. The drinks were also awesome. We will definitely be back and will tell all our friends.

    Great relaxed ambience. Gets busy at this time of year and thus noisy even sitting outside. Bruschetta was disappointing and burger and health bowl were fine but nothing to write home about. With this location, a bit more pizzazz with the menu could make it a first choice.

    Our day there was good we did the bottomless brunch with the cocktails package, the cocktails package was abit of a let down only picking between 3 wine cocktails if I had known that I would have just done the beers wine and spirits. Previously went to a bottomless brunch in Brisbane and they had table service so you didn’t have to keep getting up and standing in a line to wait for one drink at a time. The staff there were really good we originally had a table booked inside and the staff managed to get us a table on the roof top which was a lot more accommodating.
