Dining at The Old Inn on the Green is an extraordinary experience: fine wine, great food, attentive, knowledgeable service and the dining rooms illuminated only by candle light. Chef and Owner Peter Platt, along with his team, work to create innovative and memorable meals that are an event unto themselves. Currently, we are offering a $85 prix fixe menu with 5-6 choices per course every night we are open. The hours for dinner are Wednesday through Sunday 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm for both indoors and in an all new screened outdoor room. The wine list is graced with an array of thoughtfully selected estate bottled wines from France, California, Italy and around the world. In addition to candlelight, in the colder months there are wood burning fireplaces in each room. A copy of our current menu can be found on the home page of our website www.oldinn.com.

Market Place Tavern is the latest concept and restaurant for Market Hospitality Group (MHG). The Tavern which overlooks the Litchfield Green, is the oldest public building in town and one of the oldest penal facilities in the state. It was built in 1812 to serve as a jail for British prisoners during the War of 1812. A cell block and a three-story wing with additional cell blocks, which now is part of the restaurant’s bar area, was added in 1846. The jail closed in 1992 and was used as a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It shut down again in 1993 and reopened in 1994 as a rehabilitation center for women facing incarceration. When that center closed, the state decided to sell it.The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features “American Tavern Food” with Craft Beers and Cocktails made with local spirits.     I have been to Arethusa’s before and had an amazing experience. I took my two daughters last night and I was so happy to have shared the experience with them. They were extremely impressed with the service and the quality of the food. This is surely a 5 star place for me. ❤️

    Food is always delicious. I'm not a sushi person, but the entrees and appetizers are fabulous. Unique but not weird combinations and flavors, and hearty servings. Very attentive wait staff. Beautiful ambiance with lovely chandaliers - love the lighting!

    My husband and I had a reservation and were seated right away on the bridge room, very nice. We were asked what kind of water we wanted for our table and told our server, Evelyn would be right over to take our order, which she did. She took our cocktail order and when they were served she took our dinner order. My husband had the foil gras mousse and I had the tapioca custard appetizer. For entrees he had the scallops and u had BBQ short rib. For dessert we shared the s’mores. Everything was excellent .

    Absolutely amazing experience! My wife and I needed a date night and were tired of going to our usual places in the Springfield area. I discovered this gem while searching for new, highly rated restaurants in Western Massachusetts. The Old Inn On The Green provides a very intimate setting with romantic ambiance! The old colonial house/inn is incredibly beautiful and is rich in history! The staff are extremely friendly and very attentive! And the food was OUTSTANDING! My wife and I were delighted with every dish! I would highly recommend The Old Inn On The Green to anyone and everyone looking for an exceptional experience! This was our first visit but will certainly not be our last!
