Nestled in the heart of Wimberley Square, Longleaf Bistro is a culinary gem with a storied past. Rescued from demolition in San Marcos, our historic venue, reconstructed in 1996, echoes with the resilience of Longleaf Pine Forests that once spanned the Southeastern United States. At Longleaf, we weave exceptional quality and a sense of family into our dining experience. Our commitment to local sourcing ensures a menu rich in flavors from nearby farmers, ranchers, and Gulf Coast fishermen, embodying the spirit of Texas. We defy the pretense of fine dining, offering approachable yet elevated cuisine, complemented by craft cocktails, beer, and a well-rounded wine list. In our oak-shaded courtyard and sculpture garden, guests are welcomed into a warm, inviting atmosphere, completing a dining journey that is both memorable and rooted in the timeless charm of our historic setting.

Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

What a memorable night! It was worth the wait of having to make a reservation months in advance. We dined on a Friday evening and there was such a synergy to the entire restaurant. Even the Chef on expo looked so at ease with tickets flying in, he stopped and said hi to a smiling baby. Our server Kevin made us feel welcomed and as if we were the only table he was serving, just flawless. The steak cut like butter, it was perfect and highly recommend. The gnocchi reminded me of the last time I was in Italy, just delicious fluffy pillows. Our 9 year old had the Bolognese and it was bursting with flavor which was unexpected but delightful. We also had the meatballs and garlic bread, a perfect way to start the meal. Save room for dessert, you will not be disappointed. The only criticism was that our table was by the entry door and it was drafty and cold. I had to keep my jacket on during dinner, but other than that we look forward to returning in March!

Do the Churrasco Mixed grill for 2. Great beef, shrimp, fried lobster tail & yummy sauces. Wedge salad the best I've had. Tammy was a great wait person. Dined 4pm to catch sunset during CST. Don't miss this place. Been here several times & consistently great food, service & ambiance.

Really beautiful view over the lake. Great food at brunch. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Signs to find the restaurant could be better in the park for first time visitors. We would go again.
