Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since. Ristorante A CA MIA is open every April and closes at the end of Fall. We are located across from the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on the Washington Street Mall. We are available for Private Parties, Rehearsal Dinners, and Christmas Parties. The historical building that now houses Ristorante A CA MIA was built in 1872. William Essen operated a bakery and ice cream parlor until 1914 when he sold it to his niece and her husband, Carl and Margaret Kokes. The business remained in his family for over 60 Years. The bakery is one of the oldest bakeries in continuous operation in the country. By the mid 1930s, the ice cream parlor had become the dining room and the business was operated as a restaurant as it is to this day. Our kitchen is under the direction of Chef Todor Videv. We are available for private parties. We offer early seating dinner selections. We accommodate well behaved children.

    This restaurant is always good. We go there often since we have a second home in Cape May and have NEVER been let down. The Manager is excellent, hard working and making sure everything is always to perfection. The food is excellent and the staff is always very gracious. I highly recommend.

    Excellent dinner, Excellent service, Beautifully decorated for the holidays. It's good to know that there still is a 5star restaurant in CapeMay. A few of our favorite restaurants in Cape May have slipped in the past couple years especially with service. The Ebbitt Room hit every standard of excellence and they were open past 8pm!

    Professional yet friendly service delivered by Danny. Tasty grilled polenta and arancini apps followed by delicious braised short ribs over pasta, and sausage and broccoli rabe over rigatoni. Dinner was capped off with cappuccinos, bread pudding and apple cake with a personal touch lit candle honoring my daughter’s birthday. Great experience, service, food, ambiance makes Tisha’s one of my favorite fine dining spots.

    I was so grateful that the Blue Pig Tavern honored my requests for seating by putting my partner and I at the table we hoped for, off in the corner of the room with the fireplace. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and warm and everyone treated us so kindly. What a special anniversary dinner. (Also, the pumpkin pie with cranberry drizzle was one of the best desserts I've ever had).
