Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. Some of the signature dishes include the steak tartare, arancini bolognese, the raviolo cacio pepe, the reginette al tartufo for truffle lovers as well as pollo francese and the ossobuco which is cooked for 12 hours. A tiramisu is a must here accompanied by a single estate espresso. Outside seating is available all year round in the courtyard of St George church

The project made its first appearance at the Christmas Food Market in Kotzia Sq in 2016 as a food truck and became an instant hit. From March 2018, it found its new home in the historic neighborhood of Psirri, Athens and is hosting guests every day with love and attention. Won't lie, in the menu, smoked brisket is king but its burgers have a fanatic crowd. Bao Buns, Tacos, Mac N Cheese and Steaks will make their way to your table too. You have to try one of the 40 Greek microbreweries featured in the shop. It won 11th place for best BBQ Joint in Europe in 2019 (Big 7 Travel) and voted best street food place in Athens for 2020 (Readers of Athens Voice).

    Outstanding food and excellent atmosphere on this Christmas Eve. Shame they had technical issues which meant they could not find our reservation (despite having a confirmation email - they said it happens often and hence had spare tables - better phone them next time…) and we had to wait almost half an hour to pay because the card reader was not working. We nevertheless had a wonderful time and will be going back.

    Shrimp dumplings 8/10, perfect plate presentation, but the pasta was a little bit overcooked. Beef salad 9/10, great balance between the ingredients used. The amount of beef will satisfy you. King crab sushi 8/10, good tatse, but the rolls weren't shaped as good as you would expect for a plate of its price. Tuna sushi(not the spicy one)10/10, the best of what we tried regarding the main course. Great balance, great taste. Yuzu with white chocolate for dessert 10/10, the best choice we made overall. Great presentation, it was a lemon-like ball filled with sour syrup that complemented the white chocolate crumbs in an excellent way. Unfortunately, there was no room to seat the one next to the other and sometimes we had to yell to be heard. The dress code is supposed to be smart casual, but most of the ladies were wearing the dress that they would wear on Christmas eve 😂 Good experience, but overpriced for what you get.
