Restaurants near Kilconnell Franciscan Friary

Haven't been here in a while as we got fed up with the same menu over the years. However, we got a present of a Dinner Voucher for there, so we came back to try it again. Wow! the Menu has changed and it features a new few things that we tried. The Starters of Prawn Pil Pil and the French Onion Soup were very good, I must say. We both had the Beef Bourguignon, which was to die for. It was more like Short Rib of Beef (without the bone), but the meat was so tender and melted in your mouth. The Sauce with it was really yummy. For Desert, we shared a Cheeseboard, which was also good. Service was good and pleasant. Could not fault the place. We will be back.

Out waitresses was excellent, very attentive to our needs, offered me a taste of the wine as I wasn’t sure which type I would enjoy. She was very kind and smiled all evening. I didn’t get her name but she was definitely the nicer of all the girls. (She had long ginger hair)

We come here regularly with our 4 year old and baby, it's always such a great crowd pleaser. The staff are wonderful, relaxed and cheerful. The food is always delicious and the menu/specials are exciting. The beer and wine list is superb! Only recently discovered the cocktail menu and it hasn't disappointed. You'll have a great meal here. Enjoy!

I went to Sophies for a Christmas night out with my friend. The place looked perfect for a Christmas meet-up. Our pizzas were delicious as were our cocktails. We had enough space around us to be able to speak to each other without feeling overheard. The place was busy but noise wasn't overwhelming. The best part was the young woman who was serving us. She was really friendly, accommodating, and had a good sense of humour. She made the experience so much better. I am sorry that I didn't take her name to thank her here. In a city that's overwhelming at Christmas we had a lovely night at Sophies that was relaxing and enjoyable. Well done to all involved!

We found this gem of a place 2 years ago and travel from sligo to eat here. The staff are lovely, the athmosphere is peaceful and calm. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, the menu is easy to read and has a good choice. The dumplings are a firm favourite we enjoyed the platter. Having a variety was nice. Its lovely to go to a restaurant where the food is really fresh, its light but very tasty and great value for money. 5 starters, 4 main courses, drinks for 119 euro. Compared to what we normally pay this to us is great value for money. Looking forward to our next meal there.
