- RRobLos Angeles •3 reviews5.0Dined todayRustic Root isn't just a restaurant--it's a shrine to the kind of food that makes you feel alive. You walk in, and the vibe hits you immediately: warm, buzzing, unpretentious, and yet effortlessly cool. This isn't a place trying to impress you; it knows it doesn't have to. We started with the Homestyle Butter Biscuits, and let me tell you, these weren't just biscuits--they were a love letter to butter. Flaky, tender, and dangerously good. Then came the Mini Maryland Crab Cake, a small but mighty punch of briny sweetness, fried to perfection. And the Idaho Truffle Fries? They were the kind of indulgence that makes you want to lean back, fully satisfied. But the real action came with the mains. The Chicken Pot Pie was a revelation--pure comfort encased in flaky buttermilk biscuits, with a thyme velouté so good it should be illegal. The RFC Rustic Fried Chicken was equally stellar: brined, golden, juicy, and paired with creamed corn that was as sweet and rich as a southern sunset. And don't sleep on that house-made hot sauce. By the time dessert rolled around, I was full, but the Banana Pudding demanded attention. Whipped banana, vanilla wafers, and clouds of whipped cream--it's the kind of dessert your grandmother might've made, if your grandmother had swagger. Rustic Root doesn't mess around. Great vibes and service, but It's food that's unapologetically bold, comforting, and just a little indulgent. This is the kind of place where you could easily settle into a booth or open-air patio, forget the world for a few hours, and leave with your soul a little fuller.More infoRustic Root - Solana BeachPrice: Moderate• American• Del Mar•5
- WWendySan Diego •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoPossibly the best steak I've ever had! Our waiter, Benny, was a wonderful host. He demonstrated exceptional care about our experience and was a great resource as we tried to choose among the many tempting items on the menu. Glad we took his recommendations and his advice - those rolls...wow. They landed it my favorites sublist of "my last meal" picks. Thank you for making my husband's birthday so special. The attention by every member of your team during every moment of the evening was sublime and welcome. Loved the atmosphere. A very memorable evening.More infoSteak 48 - Del MarPrice: Very Expensive• Steakhouse• Del Mar•4.9
- JJamesVIPSan Diego •23 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoWe dined here on a Tuesday evening, to celebrate my wife's birthday. We chose to sit outside, so that we could enjoy the ocean. We got a 4:00 early dinner reservation, so that we would have some daylight before the sunset after 5:00 (January). It was a bit chilly outside, but they have ample propane heaters, so we were very comfortable. The view of the ocean is great from their patios. We shared an Empanada appetizer to start. It was not my favorite. The shell was very hard, and insides were a bit meager. However, both of our entrees were excellent. I had the Seafood Pasta, and my wife had the Paella. If you enjoy seafood, and we do, they were both really, really good. As it was my wife's birthday, the restaurant provided a free dessert for her, which was a kind of bread pudding cake with ice cream and some fruit. It was quite good. The restaurant wound up getting pretty busy, but since we were sitting outside, there was no noise for us, just the ocean waves. I can't say what the noise level was like inside in the dining rooms. We have now eater here 3 times, stretched out over maybe a period of around 1 1/2 years. The restaurant has been under construction that entire time, which is somewhat disconcerting when you drive up to it, as it looks from the street like it might be closed. This construction didn't impact our experience on any of our visits, but I find it odd that it has gone on for so long, making me wonder if the restaurant ran into financial or permit problems. The space that is being renovated I believe was previously a separate restaurant that they are basically absorbing, but I could be wrong about that. One final thing to know is that they have very limited parking, so you will most likely valet, which costs $8. All in all, we had a great experience, and our waitress Ruby was a delight, and I heartily recommend dinner there to everyone. I also recommend that you come early to get the best table, as they do get very busy.More infoPacific Coast Grill - CardiffPrice: Very Expensive• Seafood• Cardiff By The Sea•4.8

The food, service and location were amazing. Sidney was our waitstaff and she understood the assignment and made sure to deliver a memorable meal for us. Kudos to T&S Restaurants for NOT being a part of the Landry’s chains! You are special and deserve to remain independent and deliver the highest quality food and service that you have been know to do for 50 years!!More infoJake's Del MarPrice: Moderate• American• Del Mar•4.7
