Judith is a new American tavern pairing warm hospitality and the cooking of James Beard Nominated Chef Julia Sullivan (Henrietta Red in Nashville) located in the quiet area of Sewanee, TN near the University of the South. The name is an homage to Judith Ward Lineback, the first woman to matriculate into the University in 1969.As Sullivan’s first solo project, Judith will feature a seasonal menu of creative and approachable dishes including a selection of small, shareable plates perfect for the bar crowd. The beverage program mirrors the food with accessible wines and a cocktail list created by Henrietta Red's Beverage Manager Patrick Halloran.The warehouse-style building, previously the Old Steam Laundry which serviced the University since the 1950’s, has additional space for private dining and parties. With the goal of becoming a meeting place for students, faculty, tourists and the Sewanee community alike, the restaurant will be open for dinner from Thursday - Monday.

Several years ago, I decided that my future in the restaurant business would most likely not remain in the realm of fine dining and gourmands, but would rather lean towards the style of restaurant that I found myself frequenting most often - places that provided consistency and quality at a price that was fair for the quality of the food and experience. Public House plays to the comforts of good, solid food, while applying the principles of premium food products to a more casual setting. You will find all the fish is delivered from Foley’s in Boston, high quality steaks and a rotating selection of vegetable sides that are true to the region and season.     ELLA was our server and she did a great job. She was thorough explaining items on the menu. She was great and the food was fantastic. We started with the lobster crab bisque which was wonderful. I had the Halibut piccata and my husband had the filet. Both meals were excellent. We finished with a delicious expresso martini. We will definitely will be back on our next trip to town. Glad we found this place for sure.

    This was our second visit and everything was as amazing as the first. We tried the Tavern Steak and Schnitzel and both were amazing. The favorite part of our meal remains the homemade soft serve vanilla ice cream.

    The 1st time I experienced Hennen's was over 12 years ago @ business dinners. From that time to last night for Valentine's Dinner with my wife, it is one of our favorite restaurants!!!! From the food to the service and ambience the restaurant has been top on our list. It's nice that all these things have stayed at this level for all these years!!!!

    My husband and I had the most incredible evening at public house for Valentine’s Day. Ross at the bar was absolutely exceptional, anticipating our needs and making some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had… And we are picky. The food was all delicious. We ended up ordering five appetizers and the fried chicken entrée. Everything from the sauce to the breading to the little details was just marvelous. We came here eight years ago and we were afraid our memories of it were rose colored, and it would not be as good as we remembered. Public house blew us away in every way, and we will definitely travel back to Chattanooga just to eat here again

    We started with the artichoke spinach bread bowl, I had the salmon and my husband had the cod fish and chips. It was all delicious. All cooked perfectly, seasoned just right & good portion sizes. The view was beautiful. We got to see the igloos & will try to book one of those next time! This is a great little road trip from Huntsville & a hidden gem! The servers were also very friendly & stopped frequently to help customers get photos.
