Originally known as Phoebe's Garden Café, the restaurant has a long and colorful history in Syracuse. Local lore claims that the building was originally a brothel, and Phoebe was its madam. In the summer of 2004, Phoebe's experienced a refreshing makeover with a bright new look in the atrium dining room with fresh paint, new upholstery, and artwork. The coffee lounge also opened that year, and it became an instant hit with the surrounding university and business crowd. Those changes also warranted a new name to reflect the updated attitude and ambiance: Phoebe's Restaurant and Coffee Lounge. Classic elements of Phoebe's remain untouched—the French onion soup and enticing crème brulee, for example, but other menu items change seasonally. Some of the best food my date and I have ever had! Went there for Valentine’s day, and it was clean, and the wait staff was so incredibly nice. The service was frequent but not too often, and we even had a special valentines themed dessert that was outstanding. We had shrimp scampi, porcini campanelle, octopus salad, and calamari, all of which were fantastic. Would 100% go again for a special occasion!

Hidden gem. We made reservations in advance, recommended. Tasty and authentic food. I had the linguine with butternut squash and sundried tomatoes. Delicious. My friend had the gnocchi with a side of meatballs. Authentic and seasoned to want you to eat every bite. The service was excellent and the ambience was exceptional. I am curious if the menu changes seasonally. I definitely will dine there again.
