- RRichardLondon •2 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoMy partner and I went for a belated Valentine's Day treat. The restauarant is a really pleasant venue to dine and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had the slow braised Ox cheek, which was delicious. My only slight quibble is that I could have done with a bit more of the hispi cabbage. I opted for the suggested rioja to accompy my meal - it was a very nice example and paired well with the food. My partner has a very small appetite and opted for the scallops starter as her main course. She was very pleased with the dish, saying tha scallops were perfectly cooked. She also chose the recommended wine, a gewurtztraminer, which she enjoyed. My cheesecake desert was very tatsy and we rounded off the meal with an espresso a piece - well extracted and very pleasing. Our waitress was delightful and looked after us extemely well, including giving my partner useful guidence about the gewirtztraminer.More infoThe Star Inn The CityPrice: Expensive• Contemporary British• York•4.5

Our designated waitress looked after us brilliantly and the acknowledgement of our anniversary at the end of the meal was excellent and so appreciated. The attention to detail in every aspect was so pleasing. I have only marked the food down slightly because my husband's fillet steak was a little more rare than he likes but that is so difficult with that cut so it's my husband I should really mark down! Thank you for a special, and for me, a rare treat of an evening.More infoThe Ivy St. Helen’s SquarePrice: Expensive• Contemporary British• York•4.5

Me and my partner both had the fillet steak with truffle and Parmesan fries, onion rings and mac n cheese everything was 10/10 no faults. Steak cooked perfectly. For desert I had the baked Alaska and my partner had sticky toffee pudding both were fantastic! Jonathan our server was amazing too!More infoThe Cut & Craft YorkPrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• York•4.6
