Judith is a new American tavern pairing warm hospitality and the cooking of James Beard Nominated Chef Julia Sullivan (Henrietta Red in Nashville) located in the quiet area of Sewanee, TN near the University of the South. The name is an homage to Judith Ward Lineback, the first woman to matriculate into the University in 1969.As Sullivan’s first solo project, Judith will feature a seasonal menu of creative and approachable dishes including a selection of small, shareable plates perfect for the bar crowd. Incredible place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. My wife and I have had our anniversary meal there several times over the past few years. It’s also a great place to go when it’s not a special occasion.

My thoughts after 4 visits and multiple conversations with friends who've also enjoyed meals at Judith: Go now before foodies make this destination dining. Owner Julia Sullivans seasonal menu is straightforward, yet every seemingly uncomplicated item is the best fill-in-the-blank you've ever tasted. She is personally invested (her physician father attended Sewanee as an undergrad, she grew up spending time here) and ever-present, often delivering food to the table herself. And she knows her business down to the last parmesean-dusted-crisp-heavenly french fry. Just ask her legions of fans developed over a decade of running the ever-popular Henrietta Red in Nashville. Those of us who spend on the mountain are pinching ourselves for having the good fortune to watch a culinary star in action while savoring every bite.
