Everything was excellent! Service was spot on. The Dover sole, escargot, even chicken (probably the best I’ve ever had) were all cooked to perfection. It’s such a cozy atmosphere and was the perfect place to dine before we went to a show. We even shared a great bottle of wine! I wish we had space for dessert but we were stuffed! Great visit!

It kills me to write anything but a stellar review for La Voile - we have always loved La Voile for its authentic French bistro experience—ambience, menu, wines, all wonderful. However, for the second time in a row, we experienced poor service and cold food. During a birthday celebration after the Pops, we started with champagne and charcuterie, which was lovely. We felt our waiter hurried us into ordering our main courses. After a long wait, my lamb and my wife’s steak were cold, while our guests' mussels and soup were hot. The manager, who we love, was apologetic and insisted on a partial comp, although it was applied incorrectly. Despite its charm, the restaurant seems to be struggling with staffing, making the experience disappointing. Not sure we'll return soon. /jw

The food was not as good as it has been in the past. Lobster and scallops were not very filling, very skimpy. Veal was good but not excellent. Disappointed.

Seriously one of the best meals we've had in Boston. This was a complete surprise, as it was a last minute reservation, made in the pouring rain, and let's grab a table at a place we have never been. Wow. The dover sole was amazing, as was the quiche (privately, I admitted to my beautiful wife that the fish was one of the best I've had, and we love to cook at home). Service was super attentive, everything done just right. There was some background noise from other diners enjoying themselves, but not too much that we were hard of hearing, in fact, made it all the more charming. This basement restaurant on Newbury St in Back Bay is hard to see, the first time we approached it, we walked right past, focused on avoiding sidewalk puddles rather than diligently looking for a French Bistro. No matter, a minute later we were whisked in, seated, water and wine poured and pouring over the menu. Recommend with hesitation, just go! Mike & Tana
