Serving the finest in Northern & Regional Italian Cuisine, La Grotta offers old world charm and friendly, first class service and is located in the heart of Buckhead. A local favorite since 1978, La Grotta has received Best of Atlanta Award from Atlanta magazine since the mid 1980’s, prestigious DiRONA and AAA Four Diamond Awards since the early 90's.

La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.

Except for valet (upon arrival, he just looked at us, zero greeting or communication...), our experience was excellent all around. Caviar service, veal mousse, carpaccio, gnocchi, lobster pasta, clam pasta, and halibut. Clam pasta was just okay. Everything else was perfect. Thank you, La Grotta.

We tried this place on a Saturday. The building looks like a very old hotel. You enter the building and take an elevator to get the dining area that resembles an old hotel banquet room. They have a variety of items to choose from on their menu but not an overwhelming amount which is great. We ordered the Ravioli and Gnocchi. The Ravioli had great flavor! However, it initially came out somewhat cold. They took it back and reheated it. The dish was somewhat small. Definitely wish the portion was larger. The Gnocchi was also good. The servers and staff were very polite and helpful.

Have been dining at La Grotta for over 30 years. It continues to be amazing. Better than any of the best NY Italian restaurants. My wife is Italian and from NY and would agree. Juliano is the best as a waiter and has been at LA Grotta for 36 years.

La Grotta is always a wonderful experience. The service is always the absolute best. I loved the mocktail they made me and my husband could not stop talking about the espresso martini. The caprese salad was perfect, the clams we loved the surprise of the curry sauce. The ravioloni was stunning and my husband loved the beef cheek gnocchi. My husband said the best part of his meal was the tiramisu which he never says dessert! The chocolate torte was wonderful as well. The restaurant just never disappoints. We love it here and of course will be back

As usual, great food and incredible service! Because we were celebrating joint birthdays, the staff thoughtfully gave us complimentary glasses of champagne. LaGrotta has now become our place to celebrate our birthdays!

Always very solid. Made a reservation quite far ahead for a birthday dinner. Admittedly, did not request a specific restaurant location. Upon arrival they elected to seat us on the patio. As the weather was cool and threatening a drizzle there was only a couple of tables occupied. Most of the tables were covered with table clothes to avoid exposure. Very unappealing for yr few diners out there. Of course, after the outdoor heater was lit it began raining. After going inside waiting at the bar I insisted I didn’t want to sit outside in the first place. While there were tables inside we were told we had to go outside again but under the overhang. For a special evening I don’t feel we were treated appropriately. If there is a next time I will insist on indoor seating in November! Too expensive a meal to deal with the attitude.

Jim! Thank you, first of all, for your candid review and for continuing to come and visit with us. We appreciate any and all remarks to better our organization. So with regards to your reservations last night, it appears as though you had made the reservations for outdoors online, and I'm thinking you didn't realize that. While tables may have existed upon your arrival, I can asure you that they were all sat by 630p, and that is why we couldn't accomodate you indoors. We had you "waiting" because we were earnestly trying to move tables around to get you indoors and were a little understaffed due to some last minute sick employees. Please call us in advance next time to make reservations and we will make sure that you are seated indoors, thank you again for your understanding.

They went above and beyond for us - it was a special evening for me and my husband and when it started raining, they were able to accommodate us inside and brought us Prosecco to toast. So wonderful!
