   I have dined many times over the years at both Kokkari and Evvia. They are among my very favorite in the Bay Area. I especially have loved the branzino and order it as my entree nearly every time. In fact, I have told everyone I’ve brought to the restaurant it’s the best in the country. I was so disappointed last night. For me and my guest, ours was over grilled and dry. When I told the waiter at the end of our meal, his response was I’m sorry and I will tell the chef. That’s it. He was nice enough for sure throughout the evening but his attitude given the feedback was one of nonchalance. I ended up apologizing to my guest from Hawaii and I left feeling I oversold how good Kokkari is. My guest agreed it was just “okay”. I rate it as the worst in terms of the entree I’ve had at Kokkari. One other thing…ultimately we were not rushed; but the constant checking to see how far along in the meal we were by the maitre’d was truly annoying and not discreet in the least. All in all, my least favorable experience (and this was a business dinner) ever at Kokkari. Note: I’m really interested to see if I get a response to this note. It is a rare thing for me to make comments here; I’m doing so because I know you want Kokkari to always live up to its reputation. It didn’t last night.

   Our server, Stephanie, was courteous, personable and on point. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Love the gigantes, grilled shrimp and the roasted chicken with potatoes and vegetables. Delish!

   The lamb and chicken were very good. Although the chicken seems to taste different and served a bit different than when we were here last time about 5 months ago. The rib eye was a missed. We asked for medium rare , steak came out very rare . It made the steak tasted chewy and not good. We didn’t want to be a pain and send food back.

   Loved the octopus and the appetizer special of rabbit for the evening. The goat stew was a highlight, which was well seasoned and felt like a very comforting meal.

   Found this place because of its good reviews and rating and decided to go here for a date night. Great authentic atmosphere and environment. Appetizers were very well made with complex flavors. We ordered a bottle of wine, but after we saw Cocktails being brought to other tables, we realized they did have a cocktail menu, we just weren't given it. The server was extremely professional and skilled but didn't interact with us very much and wasn't very personable. It could have just been busy/stressful for her, though. We ordered the whole fish and duck (special), which were tasty and large portions. Good value.

   I would recommend avoiding late reservations, as it impacted our overall experience. This was our first time at the restaurant, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. Our reservation was at 10 PM, but we arrived at 9 PM, hoping to be seated earlier, even at the bar. However, we were kindly asked to return at our scheduled time. After spending an hour at a nearby bar, we came back to find the restaurant winding down for the night. The service felt rushed, and we barely had time to enjoy our meal. We quickly finished a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and a main course before leaving. There was simply no time for dessert, which was disappointing. Unfortunately, what was meant to be our first romantic dinner felt hurried and underwhelming. My boyfriend is still wondering why I chose this restaurant. I’d suggest booking an earlier time for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

   Obsessed with this place—top notch food and service in a warm and friendly environment! This is the best place to come on a date or for a celebratory dinner or lunch. Can’t wait to come back.

    One of my favorite’s for authentic Mediterranean food. The moussaka is the best we have had and their Chicken Souvlaki was delicious and perfectly grilled and flavored. Always a must visit when I come to San Francisco
