   Overall a remarkably mediocre meal. Came for my birthday and probably wish I hadn’t. Got the artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was objectively terrible. Salty, the artichoke peels were weird, and almost like it had split. Entrees took forever to come. When they came, two had the wrong sides and all of it had clearly been sitting for a while. Our table got 4 steaks and a scallop dish and every one was overly salty and kinda cold. Got the birthday desserts to go, carrot cake and chocolate cake, and both are super meh. Overall a really slow and disappointing meal.

   J Gilberts never disappoints! Excellent food, excellent service. Scallops perfectly seared in a lovely light sauce, bread hot and delicious! Great place to celebrate a birthday! Be sure to join their loyalty club to receive $25 off for a birthday meal!

   We had reservations and weren’t seated until almost 40 minutes past our reservation time. They were grossly overbooked. Excuses were given about tables taking too long, etc. It was a Friday night - it will be busy- but we’ve never had to wait even 15 minutes past a scheduled reservation. My guess - someone let in too many walk-ins before the onslaught of reservations showed up. The gentleman in a suit, I’m assuming the manager, was at least polite. The same can’t be said for the THREE other people who were standing up front. The gentleman with the longer earring was just rude and condescending. And the employees talking amongst themselves up front about clients should know even when they think they’re being quiet- the clients can hear them. Ridiculous - they knew they were behind and should have called everyone with a reservation to tell them to come later versus standing in an overcrowded and freezing waiting area. We finally got seated and our table was dirty and it took quite awhile until our server came. I ordered a steak well done and it was charred . There is NO WAY that not only the cook didn’t know they were sending out something far over cooked but even the person who brought it out. By this point, we gave up . We said nothing…but we will not be back.

   Service was great tonight but most importantly the food is back to a very high level. New Chef is really making a big difference.

   We dined the evening after Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was busy, as expected, but we were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. We went with selections from the Valentine menu and the meals were delicious! I had the filet and lobster tail and it was prepared perfectly. I’ve had a lot of great steaks and J. Gilbert’s is easily among the best I’ve had - better than many I’ve spent a lot more on too! We also had the blue cheese chips appetizer. If you like blue cheese, it’s a must have.

   We had a fabulous date night experiencing J Gilbert for the first time. Everything was delicious and the service was great from beginning to end. Will definitely be back.

    I had the best time last night at J. Gilberts! We came early to see if we could get a seat at the bar area since our reservations were so late. They beyond exceeded my expectations and were extremely accommodating! The food was absolutely amazing! I would definitely be back! Thank you J. Gilberts and your staff from the hostess to the waitress and supporting waiters top notch experience!
