   We allay one for a Sunday dinner when driving back from Palm Springs. Last nights was particularly fab! We had the Octopus and seared scallops appetizers, which were amazingly delicious. This was followed by sharing the shrimp clams and bottarga pasta, and the the Branzino main which we asked our wait person “can the chef prepare it with extra crispy skin with under done flesh” when she came back with a Resounding YES, we ordered that too; so glad we did, we also had 1 Aperol Spritz and my wife had a Negroni. They had Bruno And Giacosa’s Roero Arneis at a very reasonable price & we ordered that. Also fab!! For desert, we shared a cannoli order and the red orange sorbet. The food and service was why we keep coming back each year. Best Italian food in the USA!

   Il Cortile never fails to excel, from the moment one is greeted at the desk to the moment one departs. The staff one interacts with are polite, appropriately cordial, and effortlessly efficient--especially if one knocks over a Champaign flute in a moment of excess enthusiasm. The food is superb, the ambiance is extremely pleasant, and the noise level is perfect--unlike a nearby restaurant where we dined the night before, which was nothing short of deafening, making conversation, as we know it, impossible. I have nothing negative, not the least niggling quibble, to mention. If you seek a fining dining experience in Paso Robles, Il Cortile should be very high on your list.

   Very excellent overall. Grilled octopus app was the best as well as Osso Buco and rack of lamb .

   We always eat here at least once every time we come to Paso. This time we did not like the food. I had the sea bass special for $45 that was 2 small pieces of fish that was tasteless and had to ask for lemon. The lobster pasta was also disappointing. Did they change chef’s? Hopefully if there’s a next time coming here it’s better.

   First time dining here, and Ivan made the experience very memorable. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, gave great suggestions and was friendly. Food was excellent and service was great. Octopus, Osso Bucco and Panna Cotta were the stand outs. Go ask for Ivan for a wonderful evening.
