   Pay attention to incredibly fine print when you make a reservation. There are two sides to Hula Grill, unbeknownst to me: the dining room and the sand bar. Two different kitchens and Open table reservations ONLY reserve the dining room side. The other side has different menu which is what I hoped for and is first come first serve. Their fish tacos are delicious but you can't get them in the dining room for dinner. My server advised me that I should go talk to them and fix it instead of helping me out. I was dining solo and he barely paid attention to me while talking and sharing the specials to all the other tables around me. I had no idea there were specials; would have loved to know. Received my $15 dollar "caesar" salad which was mostly romaine and before I had a chance to eat it, my fish arrived fresh and hot. The other server indicated he didn't know I had a salad when I said I wasn't ready for my entree. He offered to put it back under the warmer-. No way. For $51 go put it on a warming light? forget it; I asked for my meal to go. I certainly felt like my table was unimportant and most likely not a big spender. I've dined solo before and never felt this way. Never returning. Not even for their fish tacos.

   We had reservations and were seated promptly at a table with a great view. Food and beverages were great. The calamari appetizer was the best ever! Fish tacos were very tasty.

   Our server Astrid was a 10 out of 10. She was knowledgeable and fun. The food was outstanding! The view was paradise!

   The atmosphere and service were great. The noise level where they sat us near the kitchen was too much. And the food for the price should have been better. Overall we had a decent time.

   This was the first restaurant we ate at as soon as we arrived in Maui. Our server was Rick and he is probably thee best server we have had ever! He was so attentive and went above and beyond, making sure we knew our way around the property, made recommendations with their chili pepper water and HI Hot Sauces to pair with their food items. He had really good energy, knowledgeable about the food they offer patrons, and really helped give us a great first impression of Maui!

   I had made a reservation many weeks in advance for a special occasion. We were seated way in the back by the kitchen door. Couldn't hear the music, not a clear beach view and had the runway of waiters pouring past us throughout dinner. Food was sadly disappointing that the house special was really not prepared well. Mahi mahi was way over cooked and not flavorful. Even with the macadamia nut and crab topping. Was not worth the $50. Best to stick with a lunch burger there and not count on a high quality dinner. Two people cost for dinner and 1 drink each was $200. I do give the waitress a very high review. Attentive, fun and did her job well.

   We booked for (4) adults, thinking I could keep my infant on my lap. We were pre assigned a high top, presumably in the bar area, which doesn’t work with a lap baby. So we had to wait 20 or so minutes for a regular table…which is fine. I accept that. However, as we waited, we saw burgers, sandwiches, bar food and tasty looking bites going to the bar. Once we sat, however, there were no burgers or sandwiches on the menu. When we asked the server, he told us there are two totally different menus; one for the bar and one for the dining room. So, had I not brought my baby, we would’ve had a completely different menu, even with the same exact reservation. We ended up ordering a couple of overpriced apps and hula pie, trying to make the most of this very strange experience. I would only ever consider going back for lunch and/or Hula pie. Dustin, our server, was very sweet and knowledgable.

    Making the reservation on Open Table made things so easy. We had a great seat in the shade and it overlooked the ocean. The service was great and the food was delicious. Great for a quick and nice meal in whalers village.
