The food quality, for the most part was good. The sashimi and sushi selections were good, but neither the freshest nor the most generous (the nigiri was VERY thin slices of fish). The main issue is one of value for the money. While there was a ton of food served (like you'd get at a buffet), because it's portioned, $90 per person is pretty steep. As noted, the raw fish serving was scant, and you have to wrestle with your crab legs (at $90, you might crack the crab a little for the diners?). Moreover, while it's customary to be charged separately for cocktails, adding $18-$20 per mimosa or a bloody mary is pretty expensive - making a one cocktail brunch meal well over $100 per person. It was a happy occasion to celebrate, and we weren't unhappy that we went, but if you're seeking an experience that matches up with quality relative to the value of the food experience, this is probably not your top choice in town. I haven't had miso butterfish this good since at Ming Tsai's old Blue Dragon restaurant in MA.\n\n3rd course will have something great for everyone. Full disclosure: I don't care for chocolate. But everyone else thought the chocolate mousse was to die for. We are staying at the Kahala Resort and Hoku’s was the icing on the cake. Beautiful environment, gracious staff with perfect service and they kept the Lobsters coming. We didn't think of it then, but perhaps we can just give our server an additional cash gratuity the next time. We continue to get great service, the food is great, but the veranda was somewhat windy. That is the reason for the ratings in ambiance and noise. We will return again and again but hopefully, not to the veranda. Parking was complimentary and it seemed pretty hectic at the time i came, which was about 11:20am. My reservation was at 11:45am so i checked in a little earlier than that and they said the were getting the tables ready and that they’d call our name when the table was ready. People that came in after us had already been seated and at this point at 12:05pm we went back in to see if the tables had been ready since it was 20 minutes after our reservation. The younger girl wearing the red dress at the receptionist area was passive aggressive and rude. That part kind of made me not want to come back next time for brunch because of the tone she was talking in. So for the receptionist customer service? i give 2/5 stars. The manager later came to our table to apologize for the wait we had so it was ok. I just wish the receptionist wasn’t so rude. I know it’s hectic with it being Easter but other people in my party said her tone was rude as well.\n\nWe finally get seated at 12:05pm and help ourselves to the brunch buffet. They had a variety selections of ahi poke and meats/fish, and some other appetizers as well. Our waiter did a great job at refilling our drinks and checking up on us, he was very friendly and efficient.\n\nFor the food, I enjoyed eating the lobster tails, crab legs, the miso butterfish, and crab fried rice was excellent. The prime rib had some tough parts to it and lots of fat on the pieces i had. The suckling pig was a little on the dry side but still flavorful. This was one of the best experience we ever had on our wedding anniversary. Our server Duane was very informative on the brunch menu, whenever we needed more food he was t always available and when he wasn’t, the other staff was there to help. And not to mention the food was superb!

Modifying when I said "True meaning of ALOHA" - staff not quite true Aloha as KAMA'AINA. True locals have each other's back. Granted this was all my error and stupidity as I did not inquire if Hoku's offered any type of discount - Kamaaina/senior/military. Looking at my party of 3, very easy to surmise that we are Kamaainas and that my wife and I are seniors. Not upset but very disappointed. ALOHA.

Great service. We were greeting upon arrival and sat right away. Waitstaff was attentive and took away dishes as we finished and kept our coffee and water filled. The buffet was fresh and constantly filled. The food was excellent as expected and did not disappoint.

Food and service was fine, but the table set-up was subpar. Essentially two coffee tables placed next to each and not comfortable to sit at. Seemed like an after-thought and when I asked if there was anywhere else we could be sat the answer was no despite other regular tables seemingly empty or with later reservations. Why even set up a table this way when the experience will certainly be negative for the patron confuses me.

Food was delicious, and worth every penny spent. We are staying at the Kahala Resort and Hoku’s was the icing on the cake. Beautiful environment, gracious staff with perfect service and they kept the Lobsters coming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Hawaii. So good.

Great service and the quality of the food was excellent. I went for the Easter brunch and it was great. Unlimited lobster, sashimi, Nigiri, and O didn't feel judged even after my 12th order of lobster. It was definitely worth the money.

Hoku''s is our go-to place for every special occasion. The food is just great and your servers are the best. Although we had six in our party and the gratuity is 20%, we'd appreciate it if you would leave the tip space blank because we like to add more because every server we've had has always been superior. We didn't think of it then, but perhaps we can just give our server an additional cash gratuity the next time. We continue to get great service, the food is great, but the veranda was somewhat windy. That is the reason for the ratings in ambiance and noise. We will return again and again but hopefully, not to the veranda. Kudos to your staff, from Michelle, Taryn, and all - hope you had a great Easter despite having to work that day.

I came here for Easter Brunch as it’s my first time trying Hoku’s Easter Brunch. Parking was complimentary and it seemed pretty hectic at the time i came, which was about 11:20am. My reservation was at 11:45am so i checked in a little earlier than that and they said the were getting the tables ready and that they’d call our name when the table was ready. People that came in after us had already been seated and at this point at 12:05pm we went back in to see if the tables had been ready since it was 20 minutes after our reservation. The younger girl wearing the red dress at the receptionist area was passive aggressive and rude. That part kind of made me not want to come back next time for brunch because of the tone she was talking in. So for the receptionist customer service? i give 2/5 stars. The manager later came to our table to apologize for the wait we had so it was ok. I just wish the receptionist wasn’t so rude. I know it’s hectic with it being Easter but other people in my party said her tone was rude as well.
We finally get seated at 12:05pm and help ourselves to the brunch buffet. They had a variety selections of ahi poke and meats/fish, and some other appetizers as well. Our waiter did a great job at refilling our drinks and checking up on us, he was very friendly and efficient.
For the food, I enjoyed eating the lobster tails, crab legs, the miso butterfish, and crab fried rice was excellent. The prime rib had some tough parts to it and lots of fat on the pieces i had. The suckling pig was a little on the dry side but still flavorful. Overall for the food, I’d say the seafood, crab fried rice, and bread pudding was the star of the show for me.
