The newly renovated Fish Hopper, housed in an original sardine cannery building, offers spectacular views of the stunning Monterey Bay from every table, including our heated outdoor patio. The Fish Hopper specializes in fresh, sustainable seafood, certified Angus beef, pastas, and live shellfish. Our seafood is either locally caught or shipped in fresh daily, and our produce is locally grown in the Salinas Valley. Some favorites include fresh Monterey Bay abalone, macadamia-crusted halibut, our famous “Tomahawk Chop” bone-in rib eye, and fresh Dungeness crab. Start your meal with our award-winning clam chowder, and indulge in one of our many exotic cocktail creations or a selection from our extensive wine collection.     We ordered the ribeye/seafood platter which was listed for MP, a side of mashed potatoes, and coconut shrimp to feed our family if 5. First, the food is always good at Fish Hopper. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and it’s never missed the mark. My issues is with our server Orian who didn’t even do the basics of customer service. Never asked if I wanted a wine refill or if my husband wanted a soda refill, never asked how the food was or if we wanted/needed anything else, didn’t offer dessert and just placed the check next to me without saying a word. It felt like he was profiling us as a family and it started when we ordered the platter as if we didn’t know what “MP” meant or maybe he thought we could not afford it? We hate tipping low, but he still got 10 percent because the busser actually provided better service than Orian did. And I actually would have gotten dessert if he wasn’t so quick to give us the check. Also, the platter had steak and no steak knives were given. This is the basics of service!

    The food was excellent. I had their renowned clam chowder and it lived up to my friend’s recommendation. It was the best I ever had. I loved the view of the bay.

    The service was impeccable. The clam chowder was incredible but expensive. The main course was average at best and portions were small for a high price. The restaurant is located in a tourist area and is much better than the area deserves but it is very expensive for the quality of food. Service was some of the best I have ever received.

    We were greeted as we walked through the door, and when I said that it was our first visit, the hostess said she'd give us a good table with a view. In all fairness, all tables have a view, haha. Our waiter came over immediately and got drink orders. I had the Blood Orange margarita. I could have drunk a pitcher of them, it was so tasty. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the salmon, both very good. More than once our waiter came over to check on us. More than once, the manager came over to check on us. Both very friendly and welcoming! We'll be back for sure!

    Soooo yummy!!! Food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful! Everything tasted delicious from the apps, to drinks, entrees and dessert! 5 star meal for sure!!
