Carmella’s Plates & Pints is the first restaurant for co-owners, Carmella Salem and Michael Alberter. Our kitchen creates upscale comfort cuisine. Our dining room has a warm and cozy feel due to the wood- beamed cathedral ceiling, open fireplace, taxidermy and stained glass windows that adorn the dining room. Our guests feel as though they are tucked away at some destination lodge that exists in the heart of the Historic Southside. Local meats are delivered daily with Wild Game plates on the menu such as our staple plates like the Bison Burger and Smoked Wild Boar Meatballs. We do have an intimate 60 seat dining room and ask that guests please call us for parties of 6 or more to make a reservation. Our expansive Whiskey Bar boasts over 500 Selections. We are a modern restaurant housed in an automotive garage that dates back to the 1940s. During the pre-interstate period of America, people and families often traveled across storied highways such as Route 40, Lincoln Highway or Route 66, encountering regional foods and a variety of cultural influences along the way.In that spirit, our seasonal menu will be a ‘road trip’ that explores some of those mid-western, southern, south-western, and western dishes and techniques. Just like a garage, we will tinker with and adjust them to put together something that will make your trip to see us memorable.

Ron insured we had a beautiful evening, my husband and I shared a dish and it was divided on our plates in the kitchen. Beautiful presentation as well. Always a treat to dine here.

Always a delicious dinner. Nice seasonal menu entree changes. Meatloaf & Amish Pie dinners were excellent! The best bartenders and cocktails in Pittsburgh (we travel from 500+ miles away & always stop in when in town) old fashioned cocktail is my personal favorite. Keep it going! Bravo!

I loved the ambiance and seating. The plush chairs seemed like they would be awkward to eat a meal from when I looked on-line and first walked in - but they were wonderfully comfortable and functional. The food was great. I did think the wine flight was a bit overpriced, but it was a good experience.

Food is always great. Going out to eat anywhere good with ambiance is expensive. Love this place. Going there for over 20 years. Bar is a little noisy but I like the action. Main dining room is quiet

Having never been to a HRC, I didn’t know what to expect. Our hostess, Kesha, was so kind and explained how the dinner and show space worked. She also taught us about the HRC locations pins. I’m happy to say that my first pin is from Pittsburgh! The service was fantastic and they had a separate gluten-free menu, important for me and another in my party. Both the waitress and hostess checked on us throughout the evening. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Pittsburgh next.
