The crab cake was nearly 100% meat with almost no filler & was really mild. The cheese covered pork belly was better than any I've tried. Excellent tuna tartar & their calamari was atleast in the top 3 that we've had. For our main entrees, my wife had the wasabi crusted ahi tuna & it was really fresh. I had the prime rib. The prime was seasoned really well but not as tender as I was expecting. As always, the food was great—authentic and delicious. We started with Baked Brie and Beets with Chevre (goat cheese). For our main courses, we enjoyed the traditional Coq au Vin, Duck Confit, and the special of the day, Red Snapper. We finished our meal with Moose au Chocolat and Passion Fruit Sorbet. Each dish was exquisite, but the Baked Brie was a delightful surprise—it was amazing. Our server, Mr. Nguyen, was very attentive, and the service was exceptional. I don’t normally write reviews of restaurants because there are a few that I feel live up to the expectation, but Pappa’s Steakhouse is one of those rare examples. We love the downtown location and special feel. My only criticism was that they sat us in the room with the wine inventory and only six tables and they sat us next to the door, even though the room was completely empty. We did ask to be moved to another table which they accommodated, but why is it when you go to a restaurant with a reservation so often that seems to happen?
