Opting for the 5-course tasting menu during our visit on Wednesday evening, we were treated to a journey of flavours that were as refined as they were inventive. Each dish was a testament to the creative genius of Chef Aktar Islam and his team, blending traditional Indian influences with modern techniques in ways that delighted the senses. From the very first bite, it was clear that each plate had been crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The balance of flavours, the textures, and the presentation were flawless—elevating every course into a work of art. It was impossible to pick a favourite dish as every course brought something unique to the table, showcasing a remarkable depth of culinary skill. The service was equally impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, their knowledge of the dishes and wine pairings enhancing the entire experience. Every interaction felt warm and genuine, creating an atmosphere of relaxed elegance that perfectly complemented the meal. The highlight of the evening, however, was our post-dinner conversation with Chef Aktar Islam. His dedication to his craft and his customers was evident in every word, and it was truly inspiring to hear firsthand about his culinary philosophy. It is rare to encounter a chef so committed to pushing boundaries while maintaining such a profound respect for the origins of his cuisine. Opheem is not just a restaurant; it is an experience—one that transcends dining and enters the realm of art. We left feeling not only satisfied but deeply inspired. This is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates extraordinary food and exceptional hospitality. We cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning to see what new creations await us.More infoOpheemPrice: Very Expensive• Indian• Birmingham•4.9

It was truly superb and we had a very enjoyable time 14 years on, with many memories under our belts we decided to repeat the trip only to learn that the Becasse is no more and has been replaced by Mortimers. We booked a table and had one of the best dining experiences so far. Two of the party were vegetarian and Mortimers produced a specific menu for them. We all had the Tasting Menu with wine Pairing. Each course was extremely tasty and well presented. The staff’s attention to detail was incredible and they were so friendly In summary, there was abolutely nothing to fault here which is very rare these days. Happy memories (again) Hopefully they will still be there in 14 years time :-)More infoMortimersPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary British• Ludlow•4.7
